UDB freezes randomly

Recommended Posts

So udb for some reason slows down and freezes (almost crashes sometimes) when i do something as simple as changing floor height or deleting a linedef and no the map isnt complicated at all this has never happened ever everything else is running as fast as butter only udb ive tried reinstallling udb restarting my laptop changing power settings all of that but still nothing and the cpu, gpu, ram is not getting stressed too it has plenty of space that could be used.
idk if this is the right thread but yeah,
Please help!

Three questions come to mind:

1. do you have OpenGL 3.3 or better

2. is UDB installed in the Windows environment or in a dedicated folder elsewhere

3. maybe the UDB config file (UDBuilder.cfg) has been corrupted somehow, delete it and let UDB generate a new one, you can find it in C:\Users\computer-name\AppData\Local\Doom Builder

When you cannot get rid of the problem, then

  • make sure that the computer is capable enough
  • delete the config file
  • download the latest version
  • install in a dedicated folder

1 in dxdiag it says WDDM 2.7 and apparently that supports 4.6 GL so yeah
2 i downloaded x64 at the top of the thing extracted the 7z file onto a folder i made called Ultimate doom builder ran the exe so ig its in a dedicated folder?
3 the only thing closest i found to that was UDBuilder.default.cfg in the folder i put my udb things in

  1. That literally says nothing because that's the Windows Display Driver Model. What graphics card do you use?
  2. At the top of the thing reads confusingly. I assume you downloaded the x64 build of UDB and placed that in its own dedicated folder?
  3. Have you looked in the folder Kappes mentioned to you? If not, look into that and delete the .cfg file there.
