First Tech Base level I create.

Hello again DOOMWorld guys, as a way to create even more experience with level design, after the topic of "First hell theme level i did." I decided to proceed, and this time, instead of trying to create from scratch a hell theme level, I created a Techbase theme level, my first Techbase theme level actually.

 

It's kind of difficult because Hell themed levels allow the creation of more abstract layouts, and in techbase, the levels are more square and simple.

Anyway, thank you very much for your attention to my posts, I would like more tips, to improve my touch in game design.

 

The level has no inspiration like the previous hell level of mine, which was based on the E4M2 Perfected hatred.

 

 

Short story:

DOOMGuy wakes up unconscious inside an abandoned guardhouse, and soon realizes that he is trapped in an abandoned military Scientific Complex, he soon proceeds, raises his body and proceeds to search for the exit.

 

 

Layouts:

Due to the massive invasion of demons, the entire Complex was destroyed due to the immense shock wave of Lazarus energy, soon several ducts and pipes of chemicals were destroyed and thus, the entire complex is unstable by radiation and monsters.

 

 

 

Music:

Behind Closed Doors by Bloo

 

 

 

Simple details to start the level:

 

The level occupies the original fifth level of DOOM II.

use the code IDCLEV 05.

 

 

The level has difficulty settings.

 

 

The level lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.

I liked this map, the end particularly was petty (in a not pejorative way, I mean) even though I expected an arch-vile at the very end, like how it seems to be a standard for many mappers those days :p

 

I don't have any complaint honestly, I just liked it, and this is a positive point :)

The ending was lazy unfortunately, on the other hand I loved putting a challenge that wasn't just an Archville at the end, I've done that before and wanted to try something different this time.

Hope you had fun, I try to bring the best experience possible.

That's great to read!

 

Thanks to https://www.doomworld.com/profile/33156-bloo/ for his wonderful music, was used Behind Closed Doors from E1M6 used in ultimate midi.

During the development of the level, everything seemed very generic, unfortunately my levels focus more on content than appearance, I hope it was fun to play.

Wow, nice name, thanks to you, the level has a new and very accurate name lol.

 

I saw that you had difficulty in some parts, as I said, I take the Ultra-Violence challenge very seriously, I laughed a lot with your mistakes, but I hope it was fun.

But your techbase sections were really well done - lots of neat detailing, and the secrets felt very id. Some areas/corridors felt a little bit off scale, but they were contrasted with the larger nukage sections, which were a lot of fun (super cute destroyed rooves/floors). The only thing I didn't enjoy was how the last corridor leading to the SMM felt really barren; but you even made up for that with the trickery thereafter.

 

I guess I gotta go track down your Hell level, now...
