UAC Phobos Facility

Hello everyone! I have another wad I'd like to release to the community. This is a single map (MAP01) for Doom 2 which takes parts of Episode 1 levels and meshes them into one cohesive map. This was a test for myself to see how large of a level could I make. I released this map July 4th of 2022. I had been inspired by some other projects that showcase a similar concept. Even though this map doesn't have every level in its entirety, however, it still is fun to play. Screenshots are available. Download link below:

By the pictures and description, it sound like a cool idea, will definitely be testing this out when I get home.

Nice mashup!

I like the longer retreat opportunities when I'm low on ammo

or weapons so this was alright. Now WHAT is that tune playing?

It's a jam.

EDIT:

I forgot; there's some HOM issue way at the beginning; see my

attached screenshot. I played in ZDoom 2.8.1 but after finishing,

I tested with both Zandronum 3.1 and LZDoom 3.88 and the HOM

is there in both of those ports as well.

@prfunky - Glad you like it :) Thank you for the feedback as well. What's really interesting, when I was playing through the level, I didn't notice the missing textures on the stair railing. It might be because I was playing GZDoom on hardware mode instead of software. In the screenshot provided, this is likely why I hadn't noticed it in the first place. I'll make the correction and make it available ASAP. Thank you for letting me know :)

 

EDIT: DONE :) If there are any others issues, please feel free to let me know.

 

EDIT 2: By the way, the music in the level is from the game "Crusader: No Remorse." It's the mission 1 music. The song was made by Andrew Sega. I agree, the song is awesome :)

Great map. Was really fun to play and the take on episode 1 was very cool, especially how the secrets were laid out.

 

Looking forward to more maps!

Had an excellent time on that. Beat on HMP only 2 saves and zero deaths. Wasnt easy, but wasn\t difficult either. The ammo to monster balance was superb! Almost got slapped by the big boy at the end while inciting some infighing, and barely survived that scrape.

@Martin Howe - I love Episode 1 style maps as well. Especially when playing wads from the 90s, it just brings back great memories.

@kalensar - Glad you enjoyed it :) Trying to balance the ammo and other resources was definitely a challenge when I was doing the testing. For a level that takes about 30 minutes to complete, having to play the level over and over again to make sure everything was balanced was quite the task.

 

@Custom Longplay - Cool gameplay video! The added Hi-Res textures are pretty neat :)
