Music disappeared after adding MAPINFO lump?

Recommended Posts

I have a few old maps I made some years ago, 5 to be exact. They were supposed to be part of a full 32-maps wad I was working on with some other people, but that wad never got finished. My maps were supposed to be at spots 07, 16, 28, 30 and 32. They all work fine, they have custom music and are playable on all difficulties.

Today, after a long time, I checked them again and noticed I never learned how to change the map name (like in the loading screen or automap for example). I found out it's pretty easy to do, so I did it for the first of my maps, map 07. I created a lump in SLADE with - map MAP07 "Terror Dungeon" - and it works just fine. But for some reason, now the music doesn't work anymore! I didn't even touch the music file in SLADE, I only created that one lump. And now I can't get the music to work.

When I delete that MAPINFO lump, it works again.

Does anybody know what might cause this? Please note that I'm quite the noob when it comes to all this technical stuff...

I included the file with this message, maybe someone wants to check it out.

Also: I just noticed, for some reason the sky textures are also gone now. How does adding a simple lump file get rid of so many things? Do I have to define all these things in the lump file or something?

You do. You can define the sky with the sky1 property, music with the music property etc.

Consult the MAPINFO page on the ZDoom wiki for the full specification.

Also, important detail: ALWAYS define a next property so the maps can actually be played consecutively. Without a next definition, GZDoom defaults to the respective endgame sequence for each game.

Okay I think I fixed it, unless there's even more things that need to be defined now. At least the first of my 5 maps seems to be working again. Now I wanna try getting them all into 1 wad file, they are all seperate files as for now.

EDIT: After defining the sky texture for each map, I found out that they all use the same one... Doesn't Doom 2 normally use different sky textures depending on which map you're on? When I play these maps without MAPINFO, they all use their respective sky texture, but with MAPINFO, they only use the standard one (brown mountains with dark sky). The "adaptive" textures don't seem to exist in the Doom 2 list of textures, or I'm too stupid to find it...

EDIT2: Oh I'm dumb... the other sky textures I was looking for are under wall textures, not ceiling/floor. I think I got it now.

It does, but the sky only changes every 10 maps or so. By default, maps 1-11 use SKY1, 12-20 use SKY2 and 21-32 use SKY3.
