to be quite honest - screenshots say nothing about a game.

I'm not talking about the game, I'm talking about the engine. Big difference.

I did not mention the alpha in this thread, dsm.

You didn't mention anything else that could giove you a picture of how far Doom 3 is in the process either, so naturally, I assumed that you were largely basing your views on the Alpha.

Now then, if it is not the Alpha, what then may I ask, is it that makes you so confident that Doom 3 is so damn "problem-free"?

Because if they had any major problems, Hollenshead would not have said it was 90% done. Also it's id software we are talking about, they've done this before.

And I'm not saying it is so, I'm assuming.

And you still haven't learned that nearly 90% of what Hollenshead says is hype or only half the truth?

All right, you're assuming, but to my eyes, it did seem pretty much like you were absolutely positive - especially when you say stuff like: "I think it's pretty safe to assume that..."

Well I am almost absolutely positive.

All right then! matter settled - I'll try and shut up now....in a minute

Side note: It's not that I'd mind if they release it this spring (depending on when exactly - it'll be really shitty if they release it in the middle of my exams), but I just find it a little too naïve to believe that it's so close to it's release and I never understand the claim that "what could they possibly be working on? There are no problems left to be solved!" because there are always lots of things to take into consideration with a game - just remember how much the Rtc-3057 demo got delayed and it's nowhere near as advanced as one fifth of Doom 3's code - let alone of Quake's.

Well if I got paid for doing rtc-3057 and it was my job, it'd be done 1 year ago.

Why dose every one care what Romero says?He dosnt work for Id and has no ties to doom3. So what he says is irrelavent.I think that him saying any thing about d3 is just stuped.

i agree, visual beauty in a game doesn't mean much to me.. in fact i often consider it a bad thing, because it's often used to just cover up that a game really doesn't have much else going for it.

Murphy's Law - The first 90% of the task takes 90% of the time, and the last 10% takes the other 90%.

No, you missed the point :)

Though, unlike what Ichor said might make you think, that isn't Murphy's law, it's just vaguely related.
