Let's be real though and thank the team behind 32in24, i just took way more talented people's work (with permission) and made something @Noiser had made way before I did, with Noiser's help.

 

Other uses for my WAD I know of is DARKZONE which is under development now and also @Dexiaz' Boiled Doom, definitely check those out.

I updated the wad with some small balance changes. More life in Map 01, more ammo and less tedious monsters in Map 04.

Map 01
- Added a bit more life overall. (RC2e)

Map 02
- Made two switches glow to make them easier to see. (RC2e)

Map 04
- Added some shotgun shells in Single Player. (RC2d)
- Changed some Hell knights into other monsters to speed-up the clean-up process. (RC2d)

 

 

@DreadWanderer I added a bit of ammo and changed some Hell Knights to other monsters with less HP. The map should be a lot less tight on ammo now. Thank you.

 

@NoisyVelvet Thank you for the demo. I added a small health kit next to the switch in the air on Map 01. I hope it will make it easier to see. It was fun see you running around in Map 02, killing everything so easily.

 

@Muusi Thank you for the Wads suggestion. I'm going to check them ASAP !

Nice, thank you. I'll do some playtesting a bit later and see how it goes.

 

Edit: Played map 4 again with the new changes. Feels much better now. Wasn't too tight with ammo management but not too loose either. Thanks again!

Very cool maps ! The Egyptian theme is superbly exploited and the visual and architectural work is very well done.

(it reminded me visually the game Powerslave Exhumed, with less verticality of course).

 

For me, the challenge is well balanced, with sweaty moments and satisfying secrets. (i'm really not a veteran).

 

Great work, good job !

Great set of maps, Ancient Egypt is always a welcome Doom theme. It wasn't overwhelmingly hard by any means but there were a few nasty surprises and setups, far from a total pushover. I'll probably go back and see what it's like in coop_spawns for the sake of it, also is was short and fun enough to warrant playing again!

@DreadWanderer Great ! I've replayed the map-set and haven't felt any excessive shortage on ammo. It should feel good now. Thanks.

@val_de_travers Thanks ! Yes, Powerslave's visuals were an inspiration. I will try to make my maps a little bit more vertical, it will bring more variety. I'll keep that in mind for the next ones.

 

@plums Thank you ! There is some nasty trap in co-op mode. Hopefully, knowing the maps will make it fun for you.

 

I'll wait a few more weeks to see if anyone finds any more bugs and then I'll upload this map-set to ID games. Thank you everyone for your feedback and the play-testing. I'm still not decided on the theme for my next maps, maybe Aztec/Mayan or something Asian. I feel there is something cool to make with those themes.

If you're planning another set, my preference would be for Asian stuff. Mesoamerican themes are always nice - parts of BTSX 2, Legend of the Hidden Tech, Mayan Mishap, Mayan Reynolds, Eldritch Voyage, Mysterious Mayan Madness (RC1 out soon hopefully) - but I think Asian stuff is under-represented in Doom and would love to see more of it. Up to you, of course.

This was a lot of fun! As a huge fan of Epic 2, this ticked all the right boxes for me. Hopefully more to come soon?

Thank you again everyone for the great feedback. The wad is now uploaded on Idgames.

The only difference with the last RC is some removed unused files, no game-play changes.

Alright, time to start my next project and make it even better !
