OP if your thread history here and on ZDoom is anything to go by, you are weird.

I'm not weird, I'm a breakout character.

Of all the posts you have to reply to mines?

You are right, you aren't weird. You are just profoundly bored.

>implying boys can't have long nails

I have had to put up with a small amount of length in my nails due to the handicapped condition of my left hand (resulting from carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome). You see, I can't clip my own nails, and my wife is ***horrible*** at clipping my nails to the point where I don't trust her with a clipper. I'm forced to go to the nail salon with her on occasion, where I get a basic no-polish manicure.

When my nails do get long, I have to flatten out my fingers a bit to avoid hitting the keys with the nail part. If I do hit with the nails, I usually go skittering off of the key and onto another, sometimes giving me a double stroke. Not often, but sometimes. It's a pain in the ass.

after like 4-5 months my claws usually break because i use them as a multipurpose organic (sans potential microplastics) tool daily, or they start to get burned when using a lighter/matches before they become long enough to be an issue with computer keyboards. on my thinkpads its a bit easier to actuate the keys accidentally regardless of finger "posture", but i use heavy keyswitches on my desktop and rarely have problems accidentally hitting keys in games or typing. typically max out at around 1.5-2 cm from the fingertip, but if i have to do any substantial work on my car they get snipped before that, i'd rather do that than potentially get declawed... again.

less related to the question but interesting nonetheless and i feel like rambling sorry not sorry - the keyboards on the demonic touchscreen pocket computers with WWAN are incredibly frustrating to use after like... maybe .5cm of growth (i still consider that fairly short, not long enough to be utilitarian), but those are a cursed object to begin with and should be used as little as possible (i get a feeling mine uses me more than i use it, Thanks G--gle!!).

I don’t have that long of nails, don’t really do my nails beyond nail polish these days though, but even when I did it never got in the way.

A man of culture.

I like the expressions and how a white girl can imitate vernacular.  "Ain't gonna be no sly mf, if yo put yo keys with a girl who steals cars, you ass-kin for it!"  (She has a point tbh)

If I cut mine too short, I can cause splits or situations where I'm very sharp and have to cut below the nail.

We're humans and no matter if you are male or female or it is our choice to play Doom. Our choice on how we nail it. If I had long nails I'd probably have no issues as I usually use my finger pads to type anyway.

One underrated aspect of having polish on your nails is that it gives them additional strength and structure, making it far less likely for parts of your nail to sheer off separately or unevenly.  I find that my nails stay nicer and neater, longer with polish on vs off.  There are some motions you have to be careful about, anything having to do with using your nails as a tool to scrape or gain leverage is dicey, but other than that you might want to try asking for polish next time you go.

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your carpel tunnel.  I think I've had some scares along those lines, and by far the best investment I ever made was buying a split keyboard, which allows my hands to rest a lot more naturally without straining them.

I'm shure you keep them tidy, being a dominatrix and all.

I will never understand the long nail thing. It strikes me as ridiculously impractical.

Like a lot of things with regards to women's fashion, it was never meant to be practical. Wait'll you find out about women's pockets.

My lady has passed comment on pockets on women's garments on a few occasions, yes. But she is admirably practical. Has only worn significant makeup once in the 8+ years we have been together. No nail polish, creepy long nails, none of it.

Hopefully no one's here are the ones that are harassing Mr.Icarus at the moment.

What does Mr. Icarus have to do with this?

I have a few dresses with pockets, it's like finding buried treasure when you see a pocket and then you can actually put your hand in it (as opposed to the infuriatingly stupid fake pockets you see all over the place)

I actually stopped getting long acrylics on three fingers on my left hand as they were impacting my gaming performance ;)
