Hello everyone!

 

Once again im humbly asking people to playtest my new map and give some feedback. Tried to do something different this time and it's bit more gimmick-map than my previous ones.


About map:

Spoiler

UAC is up to some shady business again, get ready for a workday in factory. This map is pretty bullshittery lol. First half you have to go pretty much tyson, weapons will be given later. Use factorys machinery to save some ammo.

 

IWAD : Doom 2

Tested with / recommended sourceport : GZDoom

Map : MAP04

Jumping : No

Freelook : No / not needed but do as you wish

Difficulty : Hard (play with ULTRA VIOLENCE, other difficulty levels haven't been adjusted yet. You can also play with im too young to die to get more ammo, but monster amount & placements are the same

 

Uses vanilla doom 2 textures 

 

Extra Graphics : tag Lights / Brightmaps / Widescreen from GZDoom launcher for more visual experience.

I haven't finished it yet, but the beginning is pretty rough lol, it reminds me of Underground Army on difficulty.

I have a question, since the maps that you are releasing have a sequence, map01, map02 etc, is it part of your intention that they be played consecutively, or would that break the balance of the maps a lot?

So far I have only been able to finish map 01 and 03 with pistol start UV.

Thank you for playing! At the moment maps are tied only 'enviromentally' aka map02 continues from map01 exitroom - map03 continues outside of the metrostation of map02 etc.

 

Atleast for right now, each map is ment to be played separately (aka pistol start). And since each map is released separately, it's kinda impossible to do consecutively playthrough at the moment.

 

As you may have noticed, my maps aren't really balanced difficulty wise right now. What i mean is MAP01 is allready pretty brutal, and MAP03 is probably easiest at the moment and MAP02 hardest.

 

I hope in the future i will be able to tie all these maps together in a single WAD and then i can playtest how they work in continuous players.

Since each map has its own slot, you can actually play all of them together continuously if you load all 4 maps.

Also, im sharing a little UMAPINFO patch for your work.

Thank you! that was really cool. Own title screen and all! :D I haven't tried to play it through yet but i tested every map separately a bit and i really loved the midi's. They added so much to the atmosphere

I actually admire the theme and red and metals - the concept of meat processing but sometimes it's a LOT to process - you surely are asking for a LOT of patience from your players and I can see how this can be a turn off - the concept is there - the execution is a little over the top I think, a lot of things can certainly be trimmed down to be more enjoyable and make a more accessible experience. Also don't ever count on people finding secrets, that invlun is a game changer bro

 

That forklift is amazing and I think with a little more refinement you can really have something here but right now it really is a bit of a chore to play

This map was decent until the shit with the imps and the crushers. Totally kills the momentum of the map and takes way too long. I quit at the revs and chaingunners.
