Agent Strange Posted August 3, 2023 (edited) Happy birthday, buddy! You've matured a lot over these past few years. More and more people have grown to appreciate what you've brought to the series. Keep up the good work. Heck, maybe one day you'll get a fancy shmancy remake. That would be pretty cool. Love you 😘 Edited August 3, 2023 by Agent Strange 10 Quote Share this post Link to post

D4NUK1 Posted August 5, 2023 Doom 3 was one of my first immersive FPS after playing Half Life, the Audio Logs, the structure of the place being something like a lot of people under the UAC worked in normal, scientific and demonic stuff with something as the same coherence as Half Life it's was good, and i remember how i say to my cousins where they played for first time Doom 3 on a Computer they used to work with games. "This is like the new Gen of the Classic Retro game Doom, the one with the pink demons, all the games will be like that dude".  Also, my first time playing was on potato graphics, but in 2015 i made my all high with mods run and it's wonderful how still look the levels and scenarios (not the models thou) in this year.  Happy Birthday Ducktape mod too! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
MrFroz Posted August 5, 2023 (edited) I loved the creepy crawly kind of scary atmosphere Doom 3 had. I actually didn't mind the limitation of not being able to use your weapon and the flashlight at the same time, it added to the tension, and there were many memorable moments throughout. I'll never forget getting inside a blood-stained bathroom to look in the mirror and have a fat zombie come at you from behind. Edited August 5, 2023 by MrFroz 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted August 5, 2023 19 years. Where did the time go, huh? I still remember playing it for the first time, it was my most anticipated game ever at the time it released. At the time it felt like a totally fresh modern reinterpretation of Doom and I loved it. Still have a soft spot for it now. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted August 5, 2023 Man I played the shit out of the leaked alpha. It captured most of the best tech base horror moments in one demo, albeit extremely buggy. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
deleted-account Posted August 6, 2023 When it comes to general atmosphere and story, Doom 3 is still my favorite. Back before it released, I would look up any kind of info I could on the game and that's actually how I stumbled upon Doomworld. So I have much to thank Doom 3 for in hindsight... 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
OniriA Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) The game came out around October here, so there's still a few months before it officially turns 19 here.  Coming to realize that it's now almost 2 decades old gave me flashbacks of me hanging out in the school library trying to watch constantly buffering preview videos on gamespot on those Windows XP pc's. Filling in a fake birth date in order to be able to watch it. Reading about it constantly in gaming magazines at supermarkets, drooling on the screenshots.  It made such an impact at the time due to the high graphical fidelity compared to what was in the market. The lightning, the atmosphere, every screenshot made me long for more. What is behind the corner of that hallway? What more is all this darkness in the corners hiding and yet to reveal to me about the world of Doom as I progress?  My first experience with Doom 3 was on the Xbox as I didnt have a pc that was powerful enough to properly run it at the time. I cherish the coop experience I had with my brother on the pc version aswell.  Needless to say, Doom 3 has had a great influence and impact. And it continues as a source of inspiration to this day to me. Edited August 12, 2023 by OniriA 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) I want a sick remaster of this game, even though it may never happen. Restore the old better physics seen in the alpha footage, the reflections, corpses that stay, unused stuff like the original pinky demon cutscene in the restroom, the alpha shotgun design and alpha HUD, the Birdman monster since Kenneth remade him, plus just imagine the tastefully overhauled model work across the board or even better lighting. Options to make the game harder too like less ammo and stronger monsters would be a big bonus. Oh yeah, and a new campaign. Edited August 12, 2023 by Lila Feuer 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

AmethystViper Posted August 14, 2023 (edited) A tween me never grew up with a computer like many others did but I once played this classic my brother borrowed at the dead of night on the original Xbox and was thoroughly freaked out during the Hell levels, and without this release of the game, I wouldn't have gotten into classic Doom. Happy 19th Birthday, Doom 3, glad to have you as part of my video game experiences. I hope someday we can get a faithful remaster of Doom 3 that adds new features and quality-of-life features like the recent ports of the classic Doom trilogy and Quake games has.  (This is a secondhand copy I got off eBay to play on my Xbox 360; shame it doesn't work on Xbox One/Series)  On 8/13/2023 at 5:56 AM, OniriA said: Nowadays the Redux mod is the best unofficial remaster you can get of this game, better then any official ones could be. Redux and the Gold Edition mods are something I want to try out once I finish playing through the original game with Enhanced Edition + Essential HD Pack. Roadkill Posted August 16, 2023 Hello guys. Â Oh Doom 3 is still my favourite game in the series. Good mix of horror, action and story telling, not to mention environmental story telling. Â Hope we get more great mods for years to come. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
