If you're doing the map in a wrong order and go manually into the room with the blue key without the teleport, the wall behind you close, can't trigger the enemies and stuck in the room forever. There is no way to kill yourself either. I assume, this is not just a "troll" and not intentionally designed that way? Thanks for your feedback! I’ll look into that. The linedef trigger for the wall should be on the blue pedestal, so I’m surprised it could be triggered before the pedestal lowers! EDIT: I’ve had a go and I cannot trigger the door in the wrong order as you did. How exactly did you tackle the map? Edited January 5 by TheMightyWhoosh 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

EDIT: I’ve had a go and I cannot trigger the door in the wrong order as you did. How exactly did you tackle the map? So I've tried it again and could trigger it again. But I'm not exactly sure what it is. So i just got the yellow key first, didn't use the elevator and walked back manually. Then i walked into the room with the blue key, but didn't kill every enemy. Then inside the room i walked just random near the blue key and after a while (might be 2 minutes or something) the wall goes down and I'm stuck. I'm using GZDoom without any mods or something. Edit: Ok it has nothing to the with the enemies or yellow key. And it doesn't seem time based. I just walked behind the pedestal, run out and in again, after 2 attempts it just closes again very fast. I'm still not sure what exactly triggers it. Disabled Dude Plays Doom Posted January 6 (edited) I think this is an all time favorite for me. Great atmosphere, good combat. Nice short levels. A really fun time. Made it to map 10 on youtube, and I'm LOVING IT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yCEtaffqJk (If you watch, just know that I speed up footage, and use my own instrumentals, usually just what I was listening to as I played, and I'm not very good, I know.) All the secrets are very friendly for slow cripples like me too, so far the only secret I figured out how to get but couldn't was a BFG in map 1O! :D I wish more people made maps like these-it's spectacular!!!! So, I’ve tried again on a couple of other source ports and still cannot replicate what you did there. I can’t even work it out from UDB! I hope this unexplainable bug didn’t spoil your experience of the map, though! 10 hours ago, Disabled Dude Plays Doom said: I think this is an all time favorite for me. Great atmosphere, good combat. Very happy that you are enjoying playing through these maps! I’m going to watch through your videos, too. MAP10s BFG secret does require a little bit of precision for sure! Actually, I’d love to create a third megawad, and I do have a solid idea for one; however the lack of free time is against me currently. For now though, I’m creating a large standalone E3M1 map. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

If you DO watch, please bear in mind the caveats I mentioned earlier: I speed up footage to keep my videos shorter, smaller, (thus faster to upload) and hopefully more enjoyable for viewers. The tradeoff is that some of the sounds, like the crushers, become annoying. Likewise for many people about my choice of music, because they'd like to hear midi rather then what I do, which is to take my favorite songs and (usually) remove vocals. (MountPain27 has expressed distaste for this.) For example, in level two I used The Who's moody disco rock track "Eminence Front." I also never speak because clear verbal communication can be difficult, and my play style may be different than you are used to. It's not about fast paced action per se as much as the combat puzzle: how can I use my knowledge of Doom, the level design, items and weapons I have, plus exploit the AI, and gain a victory, despite my limitations? (This approach is more effective than you might imagine: I almost never reload when recording.) Hopefully, none of this dissuaded you from watching-imagine the creator of a mapset I love so much watching some of MY stuff!-I just want you to know my videos deviate from the norm, and be totally upfront about that. I cannot convey how much joy you've given me the past few months since I discovered your WAD. For instance, map four or five is like this Hell, level, and the first thing you hear is the roar of a Cyberdemon! I frantically race away, expecting to die at any moment, and just when I thought I'd eluded him, and am finally safe to think about how I want to approach him, he shoots me from behind! I laughed out loud! I hope this helps you understand some of the bliss I feel playing the game... I mean, even when I'm playing other games I'm just thinking, "I wanna get back to playing Ichinichi soon..." What you've delivered is like classic TNT-arguably even better! I can't wait to play more, and I eagerly await the next game you release, be it a full megawad, or a standalone level in some type of community project. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Cannot describe how happy I am to read such positive feedback. The ideas for the future megawad align slightly with ichinichi, but with a couple of twists. The E3M1 map will most probably be released on its own as Ultimate Doom community projects appear few and far between, so look out for that! :-) Edited January 7 by TheMightyWhoosh 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yes mate, it uses the classic voodoo doll trick that you’d experience in TNT MAP30. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TMMMS Posted February 16 nothin happened to me there. i could move around the tiny room and even go thru the doomguy sprite without dying. im not sure if its because i use gzdoom. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Unless you've done something strange in your GZDoom configuration this trick should work just fine, I played through the whole wad with GZDoom not long ago and everything worked as intended (and of course Evilution MAP30 also works normally). Alternatively maybe the specific version you're using has problems, try with the latest stable build. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
TMMMS Posted February 26 pretty good mapset wouldnt feel out of place in a Final Doom compilation. in fact it often felt like a better designed and polished perditions gate. i like that the maps usually do not overstay their welcome. your take on the usual icon of sin fight was surprising to say the least. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Thanks very much! I knew I didn’t want a standard iOS affair, so decided to give the map a little humour and have the enemies in-fight amongst themselves in the main room. The iOS room was left as more of a novelty feature. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
