In highlander movie holy grounds meant a Church/Mosque/Temple and so on, so its a cathedral level, because in the Movie there was one. And welcome to the project Dmh :D

Ahh  gotcha. 
 

got the movie on blu ray :) just didn’t know whether we were going with the flashback sections or the modern stuff. :)

I'd like to contribute a map, but before I claim a slot could I take a look at the resource pack, please? I'm a novice mapper with more then five maps completed for quite a few community projects. I just want to have a look and see if I work with the textures you're giving me, and I don't want to join a discord server and not contribute anything :)

HELLO EVERYONE! Its my first time hosting a community project! Project should be finished somewhere near the New Year holidays.

DOOMMAX is action movie inspired(even if 1984 is not) MBF project with 6 episodes, each one has a theme centered around a movie.

First episode - 1984

Second episode - Highlander

Third episode - Escape from New York

Fourth episode - From dusk till dawn with swamp(florida) characteristics 

Fifth episode - Waterworld

Sixth episode - Total Recall and cheesy sci-fi overall

 

Story:

You are a kid in 80s, Father bought you a VHS which you wanted so badly. You inject it into vhs player, and you become so immersed you become the main hero of the movies you watching

Mappers should have atleast 5 maps of experience and i encourage people submissioning music for the levels, and i want to know if its possible to make midis synthwave.

Overall maps should be fun, not confusing, not overdetailed or underdetailed and if you want to make them slaughterish, just dont spam monsters, make proper combat puzzles with tactically placed enemies. Making levels coopeative friendly is prefered and maps should have difficulty setting implemented(But that would happen after people will playtest them)

You can claim one map at a time.

And please just dont claim map and then dissapear without a trace.

very massive fan of escape from new york. it would be a disservice not to combine one of my favorite games with one of my favorite movies. may i take map11 if open ?

I think this is one of the coolest projects I've seen. Not experienced enough to map for this, but eagerly waiting. Will there ba a "They Live" inspired map where once doomguy gets the glasses, the world around him changes? Could be a secret level. I think you already have something In mind, but still.

Tha sounds like a very cool idea, i should watch this movie though, i only heard about it so far, but i know the premise. But i will credit you for this idea! How much maps have you made? If you are very eager you could try joining my funky project.

I have made 3 rooms for the Doom Box project, and one E1M1 map for a future Community Project that I will head one day. You can read about it and download it here. Please tell me if you enjoy it, I might try to go on with this idea after all.

I like the idea of the map's layout and the idea of detail coming from the ceiling, but the map is kinda of unintuitive, with switches that are compsta textures, and switches that are hidden, reminds me of darned TNT, where there was a shitty puzzle where you need to find a switch, but there was no indication of a switch in the room. And the map felt very claustrophobic, you can easely get swarmed in one of the places, theres nothing wrong with more chokepointy maps, it just you need to now how to utilise small spaces, the same can be said about huge open spaces. Back to switches, completionists will find them because of the instinct, but the average player will just give up and think that map is broken. 

And even so, you are able to create interesting layout with fascinating premise.

Yeah, I playtested it yesterday on a discord call with my friend who doesn't have a clue about doom, and he thought the map ended in the second room with the imps. I could change the light to another color to make it stand out better, I like it being a "secret", and I also like puzzles, but understand it may not be so obvious. The first room is very ugly, but it's just a proof of concept for how to do a maze like structure of sorts without using walls. I could probably make it bntter with some more time. I will fix it eventually since I think the concept for the project is really cool, but I just don't have the experience to do a lot yet, and also I really think that feedback is important. I just now realized, for example, that having the linedefs on the computers doesn't give you the same auditive and visual feedback as a switch would. I will implement some changes to the map later to make it more streamlined. If you want to see my other maps for the Box Doom project, here they are. And again, thanks for playing my map and thanks for the feedback, and sorry if I'm derailing. Still new, still learning.

Hello. It's been a long time. I've been busy with other stuff, but I would like to do one of the Fwaterworld levels. I can't start right now and I'd have to watch the movie, but I like the theme.

I would recommend to pick first map of the episode, its floating city from the movie, it would have quite a strightforward design and a lot of verticality

As far as i can see, you are more of Techbase and Hellish, Quake like maps, so if you cant do what you normally do, dont force yourself, yeah its good to go out of your comfort zone, but some times it is not good
