@Firedust - Thank you :) The Gold Editions will have some bonus content and they, too, have updates that fix some bugs that went unnoticed for a while. Thank you for bringing this up. I will update the thread to show the Gold Edition changelogs.

@Terrcraft - Yes. There will be a Gold Edition of the TOTLM1 Remake and I will be doing something special with TOTLM2. The original TOTLM1, though, will not have a Gold Edition since the remake kind of acts as a special edition to some degree.

The video image at the beginning of the game looks beautiful, fun, interesting, mysterious, but the music is a bit ordinary.
The picture while playing the game is beautiful and the music is very good. I like it.
This game is much easier to play than any other game I've ever loaded.

Really fun !!

Heya, would you mind explaining what the differences are between the three hardest difficulty levels?

EDIT: Beat the first one, was a fantastic trip down memory lane!

Will await the second installment with great anticipation :)

Going to play them in order.

@Firedust - Sure.

TOTLM hard difficulty settings and their Doom equivalents:

Crocodile Hunter = Ultra-Violence (Basic UV)

It's My Temple Now! = Ultra-Violence with 1.2x more damage from enemy attacks

Hell Containeth Me Not! = Ultra-Violence with 2x more damage from enemy attacks, Ammo is doubled, Enemies are more aggressive, & No cheats allowed

Glad you've enjoyed the first one :)

I'm currently working on the TOTLM2 Remaster. I hope to finish it before the end of the month. I think you and many others will like the final product. I'm pretty much giving TOTLM2 an extra dose of TLC, giving this classic some new life.

Hey, Alando1, I tried to load up Temple of the Lizard Men 3: Gold Edition but it crashed at startup. To clarify, it crashed happened when it reached the TITLEMAP Map.

What GZDoom version are you using? I loaded the wad up and everything seems to work fine.

My version is "g4.11pre-372-gfb7d1025", as it is the last version that makes the lowering walls function without getting stuck, as versions after it has that odd glitch. I might try it again with the current build, stable or not.

@ConMan3222 - I would recommend using GZDoom 1.8.2, Zandronum 3.1, GZDoom 4.7.1, GZDoom 4.8.2, and GZDoom 4.10.0. The one you've specified may not be a stable version of GZDoom. Personally, GZDoom 1.8.2 is my favorite to use - I know it's old, but I felt everything felt right with it. If you have any other issues, feel free to ask.

I tried every single version that you listed, @alando1. None of them worked at all. It still refuses to not run. If you want to know the error, it reads: "Seg 0 references a nonexistant vertex 11816 (max 1225). The BSP will be rebuilt."

If that was not enough, I have the Crash Report .zip file right here:

@ConMan3222 - Within the crash report provided, I see the error occurring when using GZDoom version g4.12pre-65-gb48caddb9. Just to verify, the error you have encountered is the same in the other earlier versions of GZDoom? If so, can you provide the error reports for those? Thank you in advance.

Hey, @alando1!

Finished TOTLM 2 and 3! Have some feedback for you, which you may or may not address.

2 had no bugs (all maps maxable), but I did find it strange that the sniper rifle automatically enabled night vision when scoped in. Weird, especially considering how it doesn't do it in 3.

3 has a few things.
First of all, the flashlights and flares. Disabling dynamic lights makes them stop working altogether, so you might want to specify that somewhere in the PDF. Secondly, I tried configuring my settings, but all the enemies appear black when I use the flashlight/lantern/flares. No idea why. I think it's a GZDoom thing, but I can't figure out what exactly needs to be configured right.
Thirdly, map 27 is bugged. There are no pedestals in two areas - the one with the blue dragon key and the one with the yellow skull key. Because of this, the map cannot be completed without cheats.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, playing in GZDoom 4.7.1.

Otherwise, a fantastic facelift of the original! Looking forward to playing 4.

@Firedust - Thank you for the feedback. For TOTLM3, MAP27, I'll take a look and see what the issue is. If I may ask, what difficulty setting were you playing on and was the game running fast or slow? I know MAP27 can have issues on slower computers due to its size. Also, I do recall way back, the key pillars were sometimes little trouble-makers. Sometimes they worked, other times, they behaved weird. The strangest part is that it worked for some people while it didn't work for others - even when people were using the same version of GZDoom. The key pillars have always been enigmas to me...

I was playing on Hard (UV equivalent). The key pillars simply weren't there. Also, my rig is fairly powerful, and I'm 100% certain it wasn't a performance issue. I can run WADS like Sunder in GZDoom, which is not exactly the most well-optimised port, without experiencing any noticeable framerate drops.

@Firedust - I looked into your inquiry and found the glitch you were talking about. Turns out, the key pillars are the old ones and I totally forgot to update them in TOTLM3 :(. The old key pillars were susceptible to a lot of things. What happened during your playthrough is when you entered the areas where the key pillars were, when you were shooting at the enemies in there, probably one of your shots hit the key pillars and that's when they vanished into thin air. I'm not sure why this glitch occurred in the first place since I gave the key pillars 10000000000000 HP. I took the liberty to replace the old key pillar scripts with the up-to-date ones which fixes this issue. I, too, have uploaded the fixed version of TOTLM3: Gold Edition and provided the link on the first post.

Thank you for letting me know about this issue :)

Completed 4! Did do simultaneous playthroughs to get both routes. This one's my favourite, such a great variety of settings. Also, easily the best assault rifle in the series so far, finally packs the punch it so deserves.

Noticed one little thing while in Sunken City - if you use a second breathing talisman while underwater, you will still continue to lose health and drown.

@Firedust - Glad you enjoyed it :) I could take a look into the Talisman of the Depths glitch - That is a bit weird. Thank you again for the feedback :)

@Firedust - I took a look at the glitch you pointed out and I did not encounter this issue. I tried to recreate the scenario and the powerup worked fine. I waited underwater for the 1st talisman to expire and as soon as it was expiring, I activated the 2nd. My player's health was fine. I, too, tested to see if the bug were to occur when the 1st one completely expired, wait a moment (and take some damage), and activate the 2nd. Both results were the same. I'm not sure if this might have been a one-off case of a strange bug (which it is possible) - perhaps it might've been the timing of when you activated the 2nd talisman. It is possible that it might've been timed just at the right moment for this bug to occur. I could look into it further but I feel this is one of those extremely rare instances. It, too, could be a bug in the GZDoom engine - It's hard to say.

Hi, i was thinking that, now that you published the novel, you could put The Temple Of the Lizardmen games on steam (Like all those in here):

you could bundle gzdoom with freedoom and all your pk3 files and profit from them like you are doing with the novel.

This is just an idea, i am not forcing you to do so :)

@adrianin16 - I appreciate the idea, however, I would not be allowed to capitalize on the TOTLM wads due to legal reasons. Since the TOTLM wads contain resources from games like Doom, Unreal, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and a few others, legally I wouldn't be allowed to make any money from them. I have thought about turning TOTLM into its own game but I would have to redo everything from sprite work, sound design, music, and textures. It's not something that would discourage me from doing it, however, it's the amount of time I would need to do all that. Perhaps in the future, when I will have the time and resources at my disposal, I may consider it.

Thank you for the suggestion, though :)
