Warlock, a PsyDoom Wad

Recommended Posts

Description:

Warlock is a single level made for PsyDoom (Final Doom specifically).

The level contains difficulty levels and functionality for co-op playthroughs, length isn't fairly long (15-20 minutes length) and isn't particularly difficult despite the monster count.

Story:

Spoiler

Something is wrong at Digsite Warlock, whilst excavating the old temple on site the staff have accidently awakened an ancient evil.

Men were turned into monsters, certain sections of the area were morphed into horrific structures of flesh and bone...

Business as usual, load up son you know what to do.

Installation instructions:

  1. Extract all files into a dedicated folder (they must be kept together)
  2. Set PsyDoom mod directory to said created folder, it should look something like this:

Testing: @taufan99

PsyDoom: @intacowetrust

Bugs/notes:

None found as of yet, please let me know.

Probably obvious, but only works with PsyDoom (uses PsyDoom features and exceeds original PSX limitations).

This looks pretty cool man, in all honesty I never knew that you were a mapper. I know nothing about PsyDoom tbh, but I'm bookmarking this page because this map looks like it has the kind of atmosphere I enjoy. I really like the third screenshot. The fourth one reminds me a little of that cool temple level from DOOM 64, one of my favorites.

Thank you!

Yeah I map but not as often as I used to.

PsyDoom is a great PC port of PSX Doom and is a genuine Godsend, well worth the time to check out.

You can start using it for playing the GEC Master Edition, if not just as an introductory (PSX DOOM and Final DOOM are also playable, provided you have their respective CD images). As for custom maps, however, there are still only a handful of them as of now (refer to the PsyDoom section of this thread).

ahhhhhhh, why does this map refuse to load when all the other PsyDoom maps have no problem??! (for the record, I downloaded the latest version ans used the shortcut method but it doesn't show up in the menu like the others).

Not entirely sure, I've tried to recreate the issue myself but it seems to be working fine for me?

Does it show any error message? At least that could tell what's wrong.

No, because I downloaded the newest version, which seemed to at least help load it correctly, apart that it's definitely not being recognized as a map now, since its not even in the wad selection screen now

  • 3 weeks later...

The map did not show up on the list either for me, but it works fine if you just select "Master Levels" from the main menu - makes sense given the map is MAP01.

Anyway, the map is cool, has a nice old school feel to it, feels like a larger map inspired by the master levels and evilution. But I was wondering, is it intended that nightmare monsters have the same HP values as regular monsters? That feels like a bug to me... The map would however need more ammo, if said enemies had more health as in the original PS1 game.
