Murderous Owl Posted August 19, 2023 So, I'm making an outdoor map, and was wondering if having walls that are lower than others and show that the walls are flat if it was alright to have it like this? The main reason I'm asking this is because I'm new and don't know what exactly the mapping etiquette for these sort of this are. Also, if it's also important, I'm going for a 90s look and avoiding overdetailing it and using UDMF features that'd make it obvious it's using a more advanced editor Here's an image of what I'm talking about 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chris Hansen Posted August 24, 2023 This topic should be moved to "Editing". There's nothing with what you are doing per se. Anything goes really when it comes to designing levels. It's more a question of how real or immersive you want the world to feel for the player. There's another - somewhat more elegant - way to achieve this effect. I can show you if you want. Send the level my way if you're interested. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Sorry, I'm new to the forums, didn't realized I should've posted it there. Anyways, I just wanted to know since again, I'm new and don't entirely know the dos and don'ts of doom mapping 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ash4ash Posted August 25, 2023 Dragging down sectors' ceilings with the sky as the ceiling, any untextured linedef created by the sky being dragged down are turned into part of the skybox 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ceilings with sky textures explicitly render the upper walls as sky, regardless of what texture is there. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You're not obligated to post the wad file just because you have a question for it. It was just an offer, nothing more :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
