The Switch Is Not Working

Question

Hello, I am making a D4V Doom vanilla level pack. So it works on all versions of doom. The main issue I have come across is that the skull button switch thing wont work. I have looked everywhere but couldn't find a solution for it so that's why i'm posting.

The problem is that your linedef is facing the wrong way. For a switch to activate, the front side of the linedef (the side with the little line sticking out) must be facing outward, i.e., toward the player. You have the switch on the back side of the linedef. Just flip the linedef around and your switch will animate.

 

Then, as long as the sector that you want to raise is tagged with the same tag as the switch linedef, the sector you want to go up will go up.

Thanks really appreciate the help. I don't recall hearing about the linedef having to be switched when searching it up, but maybe I just wasn't paying good enough attention. Thanks though and hopefully I don't have to make another post asking for help. It's easy to use, but the switch problem caught me off guard.

Yeah I know how it works now. I just didn't pay attention to the sides was all. A dumb mistake I know. That's why I tried looking up what to do, but missed a small detail. I really do try to figure it out myself before posting online for help.

OP, taking my proverbial hat off for providing a lot of examples highlighting your issue. It is more often the opposite. Happy mapping and keep at it, if your maps have the same attention to detail as your descriptions are, this may prove something special.

Oh it will definitely be good. This section will raise up 3 switches to pull while monsters spawn. It’s pretty much like the arenas in doom 2016 and eternal. It will sometimes have a different objectives for each arena. A little limited, but in a way, that’s the fun in making a classic modern doom map.
