Are (select) doom 1 textures allowed in a doom 2 wad?

GrnKnght

Question

I am planning on making a map based around cybernetics and a hell/tech mix, The theme means that having access to textures like skinbord or skintek would be incredibly useful.

I notice that many popular texture packs use doom 1 textures. (cc4-tex for example,) and I am wondering if I am allowed to do the same.

The most relevant authority on this question is idgames archive and its rules state that yes, you can do that. The only forbidden thing is to have exact copies of lumps that exists in the IWAD you specified as base.

No, you are not allowed.

Like, what's the point of such question? The centerpoint of doom modding is mostly using resources from different games. So, what's the point of this question? When I look at random doom mod, there is 50% chance it uses resources from different game. So, if you fear any legal actions, make your own textures and use only textures made by yourself.

Thanks. I wasn't planning on using them extensively, just for a bit of trim.
