Tangra Posted September 1, 2023 Just played the first map and it was a blast. It's a bit open and quite linear, but there is something about it that puts a smile to my face. That fight in the water stream - 10/10! It was hilarious, and i mean this in a positive way - i was laughing while blasting demons at high speed. Also, that song... why is it so familiar? I can't tell if it's popular or not, but i feel like i've heard it a million times. You like to throw hordes of low level monsters in front of the player, and it's a good thing you have a stronger arsenal to deal with that. That hand cannon that gibs the zombies is a great addition. I appreciate the quick weapon switch too, though without the animations it felt awkward at times, but these are minor things, that don't hurt the experience at all. I'm going to play the maps, can't way to see the city and the Egyptian themes. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm glad your liking the wad, all the music's I used are from the game "metal slug", its been used in a lot of different wads and other media. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I completed the whole wad and my opinion stays - this is a fantastic lighthearted adventure, that doesn't take itself too seriously. The tongue-in-cheeck presentation reminds me of Duke Carribean, maybe some Ray Mohawk in there as well? I haven't played both of these (i should though), but i've seen videos, and that's the vibe i get. I don't know, it's great either way. The city level is by far my favorite... blowing up walls, expanding the interior, of the buildings, uncovering secrets and loot, then going on the streets where all craziness breaks loose, with enemies raining down on. Great fun! The Egyptian-tech level also offers a unique experience and had some tight fights that had me sweating, like that huge cacodemon ambush, that i barelly survived, because i play with infinite actors height, so they had me cornered really good. For the last fight you can leave the cyberdemon to clear the place for you, which i don't mind, infighting is one my favortite things as long as it's not overused. If i have to critique anything, that will be the abundance of ammo for every weapon, so much that you can almost play the whole set with one weapon of choice, because there is so too much ammo for all weapons. But that's not necessarily a bad thing... if it's by design to have the player never feel pressured on ammo management, then i respect that, and it fits the casual nature of the gameplay. Thank you for sharing this wad. I have one question, i saw there was a secret in the end credits map... can it be discovered? Because i ran everywhere on that little beach, but couldn't spot anything. Edited September 2, 2023 by Tangra 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

CortexReaver Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) Wow, that was really great! Although the second map feels a bit unfinished, especially the moment where you can go around the entire city (feels like one of these "liminal spaces" walking sims). And the pinky pit doesn't work properly on Egyptian map as well. But yeah, I wish you made more :) Complete playthrough on UV w/ fastmonsters, as usual: Edited September 10, 2023 by CortexReaver 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
