.MOD instead of .MID?

@MrBlaskovitz Yeah "vanilla thing" usually means the original, unported, and unmodified version of thing, at least when talking about Doom versions.

Anyhow to use a mod just load it into the wad and name it the right name as usual, like D_RUNNIN for MAP01 music. Then test it in a few source ports to make sure it plays how it's supposed to. Tracks with a fadeout might need to be edited so they loop properly instead of just giving you silence after they play back once. IT modules might not play back if they use a bunch of fancy tricks because the IT format is extremely complicated, but in most cases it'll sound good enough.

While Slade understanding a format or not is irrelevant to if it actually works much like how files are understood in your OS file explorer, Boom does not support mod tracker files. Just midi.

(For reference, using any alternate music format is the same as using midi, you just use them.)

Vanilla Boom of course.

Just checking that you actually mean boom.exe for DOS, which basically no one uses. Any modern sourceport will support mod files with otherwise regular Boom-format maps.

DSDA and Woof, the modern successors of Boom, do support mod music however. With UMAPINFO you can have midi play for older versions of Boom, and MOD for modern ports

Crap...

I forgot to mention, when I said "Vanilla Boom" I actually meant modern Boom, if that makes sense.

The map I'm trying to use a .mod file for is intended for modern sourceports.

Now, with that out of the way. How do i do it?

Thanks for the heads up!

Now, I'll be on my way :3
