Box Doom - Community Project [Slots Filled]

Box Doom is a community project single-level Boom-compatible WAD for DOOM II.

 

Now you might be wondering, "How is a community project going to fit in a single map?"

 

Well, it's a series of 80 rooms in one level.

The size of your room can vary, with a minimum size of 256 x 256 to a maximum size of 512 x 512 units.

 

Each room will be reviewed by me, BUYXRAYS, and some other volunteers (spots available)

 

Custom textures/flat textures are allowed.

 

The sky will be the default DOOM II sky.

 

 

 

 

 

Here are some rules:

 

1. The maximum monster count is 5 in a 256x256, 7 in a 384x384, and 10 in a 512x512 room. And yes, you can teleport more monsters in if you are expected to have killed the other monsters before the switch or whatever mechanism allows the monsters to start teleporting in.

2. No boss monsters (i.e. Cyberdemons or Pain Elementals).

3. One archvile allowed per box (along with sufficient ammo and health)

4. Complevel 9 is recommended, although limit-removing and vanilla compatible maps are completely allowed.

5. You can submit up to 3 rooms.

6. Lots of small modeling is recommended (but not required)

7. Don't worry about overlapping tags, we will take care of that.

8. You must include the number of the slot you want to take, otherwise I will choose where it will go.

9. Names are optional, but if you include one, I will put it in the list.

10. Entrance and exit should be within 128 units of each other (height-wise). Note that you can have ones 128 units or more above it, but I will modify the room to make it fit.

11. If you decide what room you want to use, please use the tags (room number)0-9. E.x. Room 50 would have tags 500-509 and room 25 would have 250-259. (If you don't have a specific room number, you don't need to follow this rule ofc.)

Sign me up for 3 rooms. Here are my criteria:

• I want to do 2 256² rooms and 1 512¹ room.
• I don't care where my rooms are placed as long as I get all three with opposite facing doors.
• I want to do 2 tech rooms and 1 hell room.
• I am hoping to use both stock textures and maybe sink my teeth into OTEX.
• I don't care what music you end up choosing because all the rooms will go into the same map anyways.
• I don't really like your 5-monster limit per room rule, because you can place 20 imps in a 512-room size if you do it right.
• I do like your no boss monster rule and your 1 archvile rule though.
• I also think that naming your room is, like you said, unnecessary and/or optional too.

Decided to spruce up my slot 6 submission making it slightly bigger at 320x320, added a secret, and added lava floors for a bit more challenge aswell as an additional reference to The Crusher

Post-Scriptum: This is a Boom-compatible WAD. That means you can use MUSINFO along with music changer things. If you can't decide on a single midi or song, you can use MUSINFO to have multiple songs in a single map! Would be cool to see.
