LadyMistDragon Posted September 9, 2023 So I decided to go trolling around for this....and it seems like all the ones outside of the most-known releases are scattered across several different websites. I know 3D Gamerd Edge used to have a repository of that....but that site has shut down and finding workable download links is either impossible or requires more work than it would probably be worth. Naturally, there's not many links that can be found through the Wayback Machine. Does anyone know a site with download links that aren't dead that contain anything outside the well-known stuff like Mark Shan and Neil Manke maps? 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
OliveTree Posted September 9, 2023 this seems like a rather extremely important question, yeah 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

StormCatcher.77 Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) Quite a long time (in 2011 maybe) ago I found on one Russian game site big archive called "Custom Episodes Collection". It contains about 700 mb (200+ bsp files) of singleplayer custom Q2 maps dating back to 1998. All joined by a big hub map. I can’t say whether this pack is widely known or not, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else yet... Link to the file on my MEGA: https://mega.nz/file/8np10BaZ#0410nGZRlpzeEndpNsiz5w63XUSQXrzZCdmnIwnMoHI Found original link: https://www.playground.ru/quake_2/file/quake_2_custom_episodes_collection-872396 Edited September 9, 2023 by StormCatcher.77 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
StormCatcher.77 Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) I also just looked through my old DVDs with stuff and found 91 map right from 3dgamersedge.com All files was saved in 2016-2017. This is not everything that was on the site, but at least something. I still haven’t tried them myself and I can’t say whether there are duplicates of maps from previous sources. Lila Feuer Posted September 9, 2023 While the links might be dead this site is cute and may serve as a good reference repository for the early years of the game. http://www.quake2.com/awoq2/ 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Garlichead Posted September 9, 2023 There is some discussion around on Slipseer (a newish Quake 1 forum), about including a section for Q2 modding. It is not active yet, but it may be interesting once it is added. https://www.slipseer.com/index.php?threads/quake-2-support-yay-or-nay.129/ Additionally, I have found some stuff on moddb including the following compilation of early maps. https://www.moddb.com/games/quake-2/addons/quake2-superpack-1 https://www.moddb.com/games/quake-2/addons/quake-2-super-pack-2 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted September 9, 2023 Now the real question, how do you make these work with the Remaster? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted September 9, 2023 The exact same way you make them work in regular Quake2. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Murdoch Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) I have almost 40 map packs from 2003 and before archived. Not going to post the whole list but some names leapt out at me. 1964: Echoes of the Past - remembered enjoying this a lot The Powersphere Quest - Actually intended for coop but just playable in single and I recall finding it very fun. The Angron Series Looking at them, I would say most if not all of them are available on idgames2/quake2 with no issues. Edited September 12, 2023 by Murdoch 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tetzlaff Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) Quakeulf released some great Quake II SP maps in recent years: Security Terminal Reservoir Stroggs Sonic Mayhem Outpost N Cerberon Plaguemaker Outer Outer Base Citadel by Andrea Rosa is a nice episode spanning several maps. You can find those at celephais.net, but it's primarely a Quake1 site. Edited September 13, 2023 by Tetzlaff 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted September 14, 2023 I've been on something of a Q2 binge ever since the remaster and while content is lower than what's available for Q1 at least it means I'll get to experience all that's worth playing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ETTiNGRiNDER Posted September 14, 2023 I don't think http://tastyspleen.net/ has been mentioned yet. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
BGreener Posted September 14, 2023 I’ll provide something more concrete later, but this whomping large Youtube playlist has a lot of great recommendations as well as download links - most of which should still work, and if not you’ll at least know what to play! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted September 14, 2023 So is it true that some addons rely on Quake II 3.24 unofficial patch and won't work with Yamagi? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
