Download mirror help

When using doomworld/idgames it tells me to select a mirror. i did some research into it, but i couldn't find exactly what i wanted. what do i do?

I just tend to pick New York out of habit, it usually works fine.

I think the mirrors mattered in the 90s, when downloading just one megabyte could take something like an hour, so it’d make sense to pick a mirror that’s ”close” to you. Nowadays it shouldn’t matter. I think.

Just click any mirror that doesn't have "(FTP)" protocol along side it, i saw some really dumb people on YouTube doing reviews about 90's wads, complaining about that, when you just click any mirror and it downloads almost immediatly.

File Transfer Protocol. It's a way to transfer files from a server to client computer and requires a program like FileZilla. Don't worry about it too much, you'll only need to use it when uploading files to /idgames.
