Scottier681 Posted September 15, 2023 I am late with this purchase but is the limited run games switch version of doom classics collection physical edition worth the purchase new and sealed but supposedly still has the original DRM sign in stipulation? Is the physical edition playable without Internet at this point with/without patches? And if you cannot get the cartridge "replaced", will it work at this point? I have read and heard many different opinions online about this but I figured the doomworld community would have reliable info. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Metal_Slayer Posted September 15, 2023 I think all remaining copies were bought by scalpers already, and I suppose that these resellers didn't even care if they had DRM or not. This is why limited releases suck, they do more damage to people that prefer physical than good. Luckly I had the chance to talk to an Atari employee and he said there's a possibility of retail releases of the Nightdive Studios games like Doom 64, but Microsoft would have to agree with it too. However, this DRM means that you need to connect to the internet only the first time you start the game, after that you can play the cartridge offline, you can even restart the console, change accounts, and it will work. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scottier681 Posted September 15, 2023 Metal_Slayer: thanks much for reply. The last sentence about restarting, changing accounts I never knew about. Plus, I'm assuming that if you ever wanted the downloadable additional content, you would need to be online which would then solve the DRM issue as well. Appreciate the info. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
