N64 Quake reverse engineering

I know N64 Quake's map format has been reverse engineered before by both Nightdive and independent efforts in order to port the levels to PC Quake, but has there ever been a technical write-up or anything similar I can look at to understand the format? I'd like to have a go at doing the opposite; porting PC Quake levels into N64 Quake.

I don't think so, the only thing close to that is the source code inside the Quake 64 PAK file, which extracts assets from the ROM IIRC.

Porting PC levels to N64 would be neat though, imagine having the Scourge Of Armagon and Dissolution Of Eternity expansions on the N64.
