Hello, I've now loaded the ZDL and a few MODS as you can see, so far everything starts as it should, but the downloaded MODS don't look like they do on the page. e.g. Atomic DOOM from https://www.moddb.com/mods/atomic-doom/images/image-1#imagebox doesn't start like you can see on the SCREENS What could be the reason? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted September 24, 2023 I would guess the mods you're trying to load together aren't compatible with each other. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
No-Man Baugh Posted September 24, 2023 Project Brutality, Brutal Doom Expansion, and Atomic-Doom are all complete self-contained versions of Brutal Doom, you only need to load 1 of those mods and you only can load 1 of those mods at a time since they conflict with eachother and simply won't even boot GZDoom 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ArtBrainer Posted September 25, 2023 hmmm if I only load the Maps of Chaos and atom doom, only DooM 2 will start with the Maps of Chaos.wad The atomic DooM like on the homepage where you can download it is not available...or I can't get it started on my own either. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted September 25, 2023 You need to extract the pk3 file out of atom-doom1.2.1.zip and add that file (atom-doom1.2.1.pk3) to ZDL. (Do not extract the contents of the pk3 file itself; if you get a big mess of files and folders then that's what I mean not to do.) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ArtBrainer Posted September 25, 2023 oh^^ thx But that also works with .zip? The .zip and .pk3 are just compressed files... well =) Now it works. For more information... So a simple wad file contains what? And how do I recognize these MODS? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

So a simple wad file contains what? And how do I recognize these MODS? WAD format is the original doom file type. They can be mods, but most often they are map files specifically. Just depends on what the author built it as. Read the file name or minimum documentation as needed. PK3 is a format file type recognized by ZDoom/Zandronum,Lzdoom, and GZDoom. They are most often mods that can be anything from simple game clear up to full TCs. GZD, ZANDRO, LZD, and ZDoom can read ZIP files exactly like Pk3 but only if the ZIP is formatted like the PK3 file format. They can also read WAD files in the ZIP directly, but not PK3 inside of a ZIP. These can also read PK7 or 7ZIP files as well, but they are not near as common as zip or pk3 types., PKE is a pk3 style that is meant only for Eternity Engine. PrBoom, Odamex, and Crispy rely on WAD files and cannot read zip files or Pk3 files I have all of my Source Ports routed through ZDL: GZD, LZD, Zandro, Odamex, Crispy, PrBoom+, Chocolate. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ArtBrainer Posted November 13, 2023 I understood it a little The .wad is the map, for that I need a mod like e.g. B. brutal DooM and I can play the .wad in it. But if I want to play this map in the video, with the graphics and other things? What do you have to do there? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGBhoDGR9to I have the .pk3 of it and it starts, but it doesn't look like the video 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
