How to make custom Endooms?

SepticDagger88

Question

How can I make a custom endoom for my pwads? All of the tutorials I have seen don't work for me because Slade doesn't recognise ANSI files no matter what I do. It recognises the Endooms of iwads and other people's pwads and Slade can open them, but when I try to add them in to mine, they get labelled as unknown files.

Endoom detection is highly specific as there's no kind of header info to detect, it's just a 4000 byte hunk of binary information. As such, Slade doesn't always catch that an endoom lump has been inserted and thus won't know its type, but that doesn't matter.

As long as it's an ANSI screen measuring 4000 bytes named ENDOOM, it doesn't matter if slade detects it or not. Lump identification is purely a visual element, what slade identifies is irrelevant to if it works or not.

I just made one using DOOMKIDS ^ method, the program link provided in his video is pretty cool, if you want to experiment with images, you can copy and paste easily with the program too

Have fun here
