Halloween is nearly here, this got me thinking.

 

How many times has Doom made you jump scare.

 

And what is your favourite movie jump scare.

Ordinary Doom Wad jumpscares can't compare to Terry Jumpscares

I can’t name any from doom but I can from Return to castle Wolfenstein, it plays out like this: you can hear conversations about somebody trying to disarm a bomb and being confused about what wire to cut, when you walk in it blows up in your face at ear piercing volumes

I remember getting the jibblies once in that room full of specters near the exit of E1M5 waaay back in the day

Specters are good source of jumpscares in this game, they scare me even to this day.
I can't remember other examples, but I got jumpscared various times in different wads and situations.
Actually, this game is a good horror itself, like, just turn off music or monsters and you'll see what I mean, you don't even need to play PSX version to get scared just psychologically.

Oh man, it was in doom 64 map 2, The Terraformer. If you've seen the trav guy video, you know what jumpscare is.

Never been scared by a Doom map, but some wads have a sinister atmosphere. Unloved, ALT, and Threshold of Pain 1&2 stick out in my mind the most. Unloved for the Silent Hill tribute, ALT for its surrealism, and ToP for mastering the PSX atmosphere.

I get more karate chop my key board type reactions from doom, but yeah I've had those hyper sensitive moments like a burly truck driver goin EEEEIK! over a moth

You should watch coincident play plutonia Map18 with corruption cards. that revenant got him scared.
