Zilch Posted October 1, 2023 (edited) This is probably not the right forum for this, but I'll ask anyway. Does anyone here know how to (if at all even possible?!) to download music from iTunes for Windows at a higher bitrate. By default it only downloads 320kbps MP3 files, but I'd like to get the lossless stuff! Supposedly it is possible, but as far as I can tell this is only an option on macOS. Perhaps I'm just missing something. I tried Googling, messing around in the settings but nothing happens. If anyone here can assist that's be awesome! I'm running iTunes 12.12.10.1 (non Microsoft Store version; installer downloaded from apple.com) on Windows 10 Pro. Edited October 1, 2023 by Zilch 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Zilch Posted October 1, 2023 Nevermind.... https://www.idropnews.com/news/sorry-itunes-fans-apple-wont-be-offering-purchased-tracks-in-lossless-formats/159594/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dark Pulse Posted October 2, 2023 To be fair, unless you're an absolute audiophile, 320 kbps MP3 is way past the threshold of aural transparency (which is usually around 192 kbps for MP3). Or to put it another way: Yeah it's technically lossy, but not in a way you'd be able to hear and could only measure with the right know-how and tools. Then again, if you're looking to have lossless audio, you probably should be getting your own albums and ripping them, because anything from most streaming storefronts are not going to offer lossless downloads. (Indie stuff is an exception though - think Bandcamp, etc.) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Serum Posted October 2, 2023 Would recommend ProStudioMasters for future purchases 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Zilch Posted October 2, 2023 Thanks, will have a look at that. Biggest problem is that I'm from South Africa, so some stuff like Amazon Music simply isn't available. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
