I did, seems good so far. SSG being that far in is ok imo. I saw the cacos and went elsewhere which got me the rocket launcher first which I assume is the intended progression.

Just giving you guys a heads up, me and @The Royal We are still working on our map, and making steady progress. Since it's a joint work it's a fun back and forth of ideas. We just don't feel like posting screenshots for now. Thanks for the patience.

Pretty much done, give it a go. I added mapinfo but wasn't sure we're doing with the sky, so I just replaced the Doom2 sky with the Doom 1 one for now. You won't need the Doom texture resource wad to try it as I didn't end up using any Doom 1 textures (both maps mostly share Doom 2 textures).

Been working on the map off and on when I get chances for it. Basic layout's done, but got some secret and side areas to map out, too... Plenty of detail and lighting work to be done yet, especially in the actual Chasm areas, but hey... have some more WIP screenshots I suppose.

@Johnny Cruelty, you said that you need musicians? Unless the title is outdated, I can make original MIDIs very well, if you'd like. If you're still accepting music submissions, what kind of music are you looking for?

basically the music would be tracks from both games mashed-up-ified

Hey @Johnny CrueltyI made 2 songs for this project, Map 3 and Map 7.

  • Title: Darkest Hour
  • Replaces: Countdown to death/ D_COUNTD

 

This is a mashup between Dark Halls and Countdown to death. I've also added some nods to Criminally insane by Slayer because first, i'm a big slayer fan, and two, people says that Dark halls intro is "inspired" by that song, so i decided to make it sound even more similar to it.

 

  • Title: Shawn's on the prey
  • Replaces: Shawn's got the Shotgun

I've send a demo before that was called "predator", so if you heard it before, you should be familiar. It's a mashups between the aforementioned D_SHAWN and Demons on the prey, and a little bit of "Solitude" from the Doom Metal band Candlemass on the last 2 thirds of the song.

Both songs are on this zip file:

some complaintsL one: these textures are blank ont he lift to the main icon of sin battle

 

2 the icon of sin died on it's own without me touching it, I think something was harming it

 

 

other than that, this is good so far

 

but I suggest to fix it  abit

The icon if sin seems to die by a crusher when you hit the switches, or at least that's what I interpreted of it.

I will record a demo as soon as i can!

And as a side note, something i love about this project is that challenges people to make a good level out of the ones that people deemed as "boring", like unholy cathedral, phobos anomaly, etc. Those are the maps that grab my attention more than the rest, because some of them are made by mappers who actually like the original maps, like me; I love downtown and Refinery, i didn't even know that people hated e2m3. And it's interesting to see a reinterpretation made by someone who actually loves this bad ugly ass levels.

Since you're thinking about episode names, I'd like to make two suggestions:

 

Firstly, I think it might be more interesting to divide Wad up like the episodes of the original Doom (and also because they're all being made with pistol starts in mind), but maybe with a few more secret maps. Here's my ideia:

PlutoXX refers to Plutonia maps

Finally, a suggestion regarding the name of the project: I understand your idea of making a reference to Marvel and DC, but I don't think Doom 1 and 2 have the same rivalry as the comics — Doom 1 and 2 were made by almost the same team.

 

I suggest a name that makes it clear what the project is about. Doom 1&2. Doom 1 and 2: Combined. Or, if you've already created a lot of appreciation for the title you've already come up with, something like Doom 1+2: Amalgoom.

Ilike the idea of dividing the levels in episodes, and it's entirely possible with UMAPINFO, but i think that making more secret levels is not worth it. We can't just tell people "hey now your map needs a secret exit!" at this point.

 

And the name, i think it's fine,everyone knows what an amalgamation is. If not, well, they must have to read the description.
