glue_sniffer Posted November 7, 2023 I think I will drop the project. This last few weeks have been really busy for me to dedicate proper time to the map, and for what it looks like I will remain unable to dedicate time to mapping for a few more weeks (months even, too much stuff going on). It was a fun project to look through, but I don't want to get it ruinned by not being able to submit the map. Combining wolfenstein levels with any map (the mansion, club doom, any of plutonia's secret levels, etc) must be hard and pretty limiting. Like, how can you mash together club doom and grosse, for example? Sure, boom has colormaps and all, but they do not work like psx doom's colored lighting. Or if we take plutonia map 32, how can you make an slaughter maps with wolf 3d assets? You must have the creativity of a child to make it work, somehow. 1 Share this post Link to post

Club Doom and Grosse are very similar levels in terms of their function (they both act as a short secret boss level accessed from another secret level). The lack of coloured lighting isn't an issue (the Saturn version doesn't have any, I know it's not the greatest port but the lack of coloured lighting in it doesn't affect Club Doom in any way), and I already have a basic idea for its layout in my mind. I can definitely make both maps work. The Mansion and Club Doom were created to replace the Wolfenstein levels which is why they were obvious choices to me, more obvious than combining them with the Plutonia maps. @Johnny Cruelty Mind adding my slots to OP? Individualised Posted November 7, 2023 I would preferably not use a public Discord server for communication regarding the project, I only have a personal Discord account. After thinking a bit more, my previous comment about being hard to do a level with a wolf 3d thematic is flawed, i would be happy to see @PinkKittyRose or @Individualised to prove me wrong with their levels. PinkKittyRose Posted November 7, 2023 Progress is going well on the combat side of things for Map24 at the moment! Gotten the first draft of Ultra-Violence pretty far along up to most of the big Chasm room being done. Got one more big encounter and a handful of incidentals left to do so should have something testable either tomorrow or the day after. Map32 will definitely be less intricate due to time constraints, but the concept and Wolfenstein being part of it should help get me to show some restraint. Map24's trending on a bit spicy difficulty-wise, but hopefully not too spicy! 2 Share this post Link to post
