DoomGappy Posted November 26, 2023 (edited) Shareware v1.1 is here. This has been rebuilt from the ground up with the latest versions of the maps on the drive. The biggest changes were to maps01, 02 and 03. I'm going to run through it with my little brother in continuous mode in ITYTD and see how it is, will report feedback for it in the thread later. He's 10 and doesn't know much about Doom so it's a very fresh perspective. Everyone is also free to test and fiilm playtests. We just don't want it to be very public because the final version will be up on December 10th, but feedback is really important for us. Changelog Spoiler v0.2 - Maps01-10 (except for map05) - All songs that have been finished until the present date - UMAPINFO specifying some info for levels and other things - Old titlepic for internal versions v0.3 - Updated all the maps with the last version available on Drive folder. v0.4 - Minor alignment and tagging problems in Map01 and Map02 - Portal fixes in Map06 v0.5 - Map03 line teleporter fixed - Spacecat's map06 fixed - Fixed map03's song and added map06 music parameter v1.0 - Renamed songs to original Doom2's IWAD patches to simplify WAD building. - Updated versions of map01 and map02 with some retexturing. v1.1 - Rebuilt all the maps from the versions in the Drive folder - Added episode selection screen (rudimentary) Known bugs None yet. Map 17 by @Max-ko-khan (again) Spoiler Sorry for playing this so late in development, i totally forgot that it had a new update. I'm gonna be brief on this one since i already played it. Reading through the whole thread (which is a mess, i'm highly sorry for contributing to it in advance) i found this comment about the lift softlocking you, it works perfectly fine now, maybe it was the geometry? It's not the first time where the geometry could have been the problem. There's some wall textures that change abruplty without a “support”. If you study the official levels, you will notice that they do not change the wall texture without placing a doortrack, doorstop, any of the support textures or lights before. This makes the level look more polished, but aside from that, the rest looks really good. I appreciate some of the changes with the enemy placement, especially that ambush after you take the final teleporter, you have to consider that people would get to that room without the well hidden plasma gun, so it's nice to see a change there. Now that we are here, i forgot to say this the first time i played this map. We, the “amalgoom team”, appreciate your contribution to the soundtrack, you were actually the first guy willing to help with the ost, and we could actually have follow this route of just changing some instruments if no one wanted to collaborate with us, but, surprisingly, a lot of talented people came here to contribute to the project (even fricking lee Jackson!) and now, your remix doesn't fit with the rest of the songs. Regardless, we are going to credit you for your contribution and we can add your remix as a b side once we release the ost on youtube, just if you want. Map 23 (version 3) by @Johnny Cruelty and @DynamiteKaitorn Spoiler I have conflicting feelings about this new version, or should i say, expansion. Some of the new rooms look outright bad, like something out of Down the Drain without the charm, and i love bizarre and simple decoration, i'm a huge Sandy fan. And worst of all, most of the new rooms are pointless, they don't serve any purpose outside of just using some blank space. Yes, i know, pandemonium both in the bible mythos and doom are infamous for being big, but i think that the previous version had the perfect duration. I did say on my first review that there should be more barrels. Version 2 did it right (and i'm gonna talk about this in a second) but this new version? Hell no, a trope that i noticed around the level was “put a thousand enemies blocked by a ton of funny barrels!”, and this gets old really fast. I think that, from the three versions of this map i played, my favourite is the second. It fixed some of the problems it had like enemy variation and the use of barrels. The only problem i had with it was the goddam spider mastermind fight. It's not fun to stay on a corner waiting for one of them to die. Map 26 by @Mystic 256 Spoiler I loved this one so much, it's the kind of chaos i like in a map. Obviously, like any critique on the planet, this is a very biased opinion because i'm a huge mt. Erebus enjoyer,but if it wasn't for that, i would still consider this level as fun. The secrets of this map are so ingenious, instead of making ypu guess which wall is actually a door, this map rewards you for exploring it. If i had to point something that is minimally bad, i would say that the idea of making FIREBLU waterfalls is interesting, but it doesn't look good, maybe they could work as cracks on the rocks themselves? Like some damaged rocks that have FIREBLU inside. 1 Share this post Link to post

Added an invisible wall to one of the barons so you can shoot at it once you enter on a certain secret (CURSE YOU FREELOOK PLAYERS!!!!) Some slight changes to the map Added a new invuln. Hope everyone is having a very snowy or hot season, depending on which part of the hemisphere you are (it's hell on earth down here). There have been few updates from me because I've been working in house with the rest of the team to playtest and review the maps which have already been submitted. Some have been reworked to iron out some kinks, and I've gotten onboard to co-author Map02 with Johnny, the head of the project. We are still waiting for Riley's map05, but it's being worked on, so there is a lot of hope to reach the symbolic deadline. If we don't, at least we gave it our best shot. Thanks again to everyone who has submitted the awesome maps and the awesome songs, the whole team is incredibly impressed about the quality of all that we've seen so far. DankMetal Posted December 3, 2023 So, for the past few weeks people have been making a lot of good music for this megawad, so i want to encourage everyone involved with this project to go to the “ost” folder and take a listen to all of the songs we have. I can't thank you guys enoguh for pulling banger after banger for this project, you didn't need to, but you did it anyways. Now, on a related note, i want to make an announcement. We are planning on making a separate midi pack for this project as an optional "addon" to use on this megawad, somethinng similar to a "B sides” compilation of sorts. You can make your own interpretation with the corresponding combination detailed on the spreadsheet we have on the google drive, or take 2 (or more) songs of your choice and make something completely new! This idea came to life when some musicians decided to make their own interpretations of already taken slots, and also because there was an error with some slots having the wrong mashups. We didn't want to waste the talent of this guys, so we decided to include them as a bonus song for the future release of the whole soundtrack on youtube. Finally, the idea evolved into a community midi pack for this project. When submitting a song, please detail which songs you mixed up and which map would you like to have your song play, and upload it on the “Epic B sides made by Epic people” folder inside the google drive, so you don't have to waste your precious attachment limit.
