Help needed on Smooth Doom for No Rest For the Living (GZDoom)

Recommended Posts

Yo fellas for some reason I can't run the wad for NRFTL (NERVE.wad) with Smooth Doom on GZDoom, for some reason, while every other wad I have on the source port shows up on the launcher that lets you play the wads you have (Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and the 2 Final Doom megawads) and lets you run the mod with them , this episode doesn't, I saw civvie11's video on this with the mod functioning, so it can't be a compatibility issue

Anyone knows how I can make it work?

In case anyone asks, I can still play it perfectly fine on GZDoom, just with the unmodded arsenal

IIRC, if NERVE.WAD IS in the same folder as Doom II's IWAD, it will show up as a Doom II episode.

So basically, fire up Smooth Doom with Doom II and select NRFTL on the episode select.

It will only show with IWADs that ship nerve.wad. We got too many complaints for the unwanted episode selection with the stock Doom 2 IWAD.

The IWAD selection box is not a launcher, it's just something to select an IWAD. And nerve.wad is not an IWAD...

You need to select both NRFTL and Smooth Doom and load them together in GZDoom. You may want to get an actual launcher, though.

Of the internet sort, or the legal sort?

A bit late, but of the user sort. It was generally disliked to have the episode selection there with stovk Doom 2.

That's a dumb thing to complain about. One whole extra keypress that takes a fraction of a second, or just removing NRFTL if it's that much of an issue. Wow.

Not criticizing you, mind, but this is so nitpicky I can't help but shake my head at those people.

There was quite a strong sentiment about it. It really bothered some people, particularly when it polluted a mod's menu.

I mean, there's a few ways around that, or so I'd figure. For example, if a mod file is loaded, simply don't show the Episode list unless it specifically made one in MAPINFO or something.

I dunno, just seems like a fairly pointless whine to me. Once you're playing it's not like you're visiting the new game/episode selection anyway unless you're actually doing that. Ehh.
