volleyvalley Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) I will try to play this tomorrow, if I get some spare time. Looks interesting from the picture though! :) Oh, and by the way, what sourceport should I play it in? Looking at your other thread about this level, one person claimed, that this level uses stealth monsters, which makes me wonder. volleyvalley Posted October 6, 2023 Okay, so I played this two times now, and I think it looks quite nice and abstract, like Sandy Petersen's vision of hell, but even weirder and much more crooked. Spoiler The starting view. Doesn't look all that interesting, until you decide to press the wall! A nice opening area. The bright blood falls contrast very well with the darkness of the room, it makes it stick to my mind. Nice color coordination going on in this nukage sewer area. The sewer is a little too cramped to move in comfortably, but I still like the urgency it brings to the table. I really dig the look of this area, the choice of textures here are unconventional and vivid, yet it's so eye-catching, that's the Sandy Petersen hellish corruption design at play, intentional or not. This dark hallway looks dark and ominous, but it can be a hassle to deal with without the Light Amplification Visors, because of the Chaingunner and Revenant ambush not soon after. Found the secret Rocket Launcher secret in the dark hallway, didn't need it much at all, but it's still nice to have I suppose. I also like the fact, that the Rocket Launcher secret also brings me to the other side of the dark hallway, cool stuff. Found the exit, after I grabbed the Mega Armor, but you really have to hug the wall when grabbing it, if you want to unlock the exit, it's my only real issue with the level itself. Anyway, I enjoyed this level more than I expected at first. It kind of reminds me of a couple of levels from the early 2000s with the unconventional texture use, and a lot of contrast. The hellish corruption in this level made it pretty nice to look at, I don't know if that was intentional or not, but really liked it. Great job! :D 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
