Twisted Tech

Recommended Posts

Greetings :) I present to you all a Vanilla Doom ii wad that is also universally compat.
It features 2 new maps that are compact in layout and quite challenging on UV.

Theming is blending Hell and Tech together. I tried my best as the solo mapper to keep visuals cohesive and transitions smooth. Critique is welcomed on where I can improve, esp on gameplay

Thanks to Doomkid for helping me name the maps for Vanilla based ports. For those who would like to learn , check this quick tut on YouTube. I can't URL it here , but the vid is titled: Change Map Name in DOOM, Quick Tutorial - YouTube

*2 maps in total. 1st map is short, 2nd medium length

*Playtested in Crispy Doom 6.0 + GZDoom 4.10 (I didn't locate bugs or softlocks, report if you find any)

*Jumping + crouching is discouraged , but feel free if It's a preference

Lastly , some screenies

I played first because of your screenshots, that triggered me because I found that your architecture was aesthetically, and strangely, very basic and pleasant at the same time. And what I can say after finishing the two maps is that not only it is indeed the case, but the gameplay follow the same charming feeling. Some triggerlines also surprised me, so much that I actually though it was a Boom mapset !

Anyway, GJ :)

Decided to record my gameplay because why not. No commentary but hopefully helpful nonetheless. These were indeed pleasant to play. Not particularly difficult imo but still was engaging enough to hold my attention.
Some effects didn't look like they worked well in software mode, and I was not able to get the wad to launch on Chocolate Doom or DSDA-Doom. Looks like the TEXTURE1 and PNAMES lump in the was only contain definitions for

the new textures and nothing else. Lots of source ports don't like that. Usually you import the TEXTURE1 and PNAMES lump from your Base Resource Archive (DOOM2.WAD) and then add your textures to those ones.

Couple of little things that aren't a huge deal but would get progressively worst in larger and larger maps. It's mostly better though!
