Burdens of Mortality

Recommended Posts

Well this thread hopped right on the train to crazy town immediately.

Not a complaint, merely an observervation.

Dealing with stupid people, and I don't mean just those that lack common sense. If you've ever worked in retail, you've had to deal with some serious thickheads, as well as total jerks. If you have a problem with something, TRY to do at least some work beforehand.

On a lighter note, probably the effects of lots of heavy food generally. And much of that is sooo good.

More personally are digestive issues that make consumption of hot sauce for instance but other foods besides, a complete no-go.

The best tasting food is often not good for us.  It's not fair at all.

Wait until you get to be my age...then you won't care about mortality so much. And I AM old. I've known people who are grateful they even have normal functions. I'm also in fairly good health, so no complaints from me. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon!

Y'know I initially thought the title of the thread was actually the Burdens of Morality and I was going to be like "Yeah I fucking hate children too why can't we throw them in the fire." aaaand that would've been the blunder of the century.

You sure dodged that bullet.

While coffee is natural laxative, not drinking coffee doesn't prevent pooping, DRINKING COFFEE GIVES YOU THE DIVINE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHEN TO SHIT

The struggle is real.

Eating is effort.

Shitting is effort.

I'm too proud and egotistical to stoop to the depths of Quake 3 Arena advertisement lifestyle.

And so it goes on.

But such is life: chop wood carry water.

It's a small price to pay for some of the rest of it.

Shitting based existentialism requires more in-depth scientific research.

The man is clearly suffering, we must find out how to help him.

I like how OP never came back.

That's because none of the people replying took the message seriously.

I for one can totally relate to the idea. I mean, it has crossed my mind more than once that if it were possible to replace daily meals with a pill that contains the required daily serving of nutritional elements (without any adverse effects), I'd be all for it at least as an option, if only to indeed spare what is actually quite a bit of time every day -- although you can't discard the fact that taking meals with another person is also a kind of social activity. On the other hand, eating for pleasure (e. g. when you're not hungry) is something I cannot relate to at all, although if you have to take a meal it should certainly taste good if possible.

Somebody please help me solve this damn riddle. What's he talking about the "meal drinks" that "exchanges your meals"? What the hell are "time wasters"? What does all of this have to do with mortality?

  • 1 month later...

I tried drinking that Soylent stuff for a month straight, for the reasons OP is talking about: Obtaining and eating food usually feels like a waste of time.

This had a really positive side effect though: When I did eat actual food, it tasted like 10x better. I would eat the Soylent stuff for 2-3 days, then decide to eat a cheeseburger and coke and it tasted incredible.

Yeah, getting old is a drag...tempus fugit, then poof...life will replace you, so no worries, hopefully though there is such a thing as an afterlife, and if so I'm going to be like Al Simmons and correct this ridiculous simulation.

I would love to have a pill that could instantly make me feel full and fully nourished, although I do generally just like eating good food too. Meal "replacements" could potentially give the same effect, but am still very skeptical of their effects; mainly on the side of fully replacing meals on the regular with Soylent for example.

Eat well, poop better.
