Idk what's going on. Hell Revealations and basically all my WADs are currently broken in GZDoom. They have technically fixed the issue via the development build, but for 5 months now haven't updated the stable release. I thought that a new stable version of GZDoom would have been released by now, but unfortunately it has not. Over the last few months, I've been getting countless bug reports about this wad not working in GZDoom. Moving forward, I will not be adding GZDoom support to my future WADs until this is fixed, because it's not my bloody fault that they broke their own damn source port. I'm sick and tired of having to tell people that my WADs don't work because of people downloading the stable release. Telling people to download an unstable development build is stupid, and I'm not longer doing that. Saying it's fixed in the development build is useless or else I wouldn't be getting these "bug reports". If you want to play my WADs in a specific source port, go tell them to fix their damn stable release. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I don’t blame you for this issue, nor do I blame you for being frustrated with the GZDoom team breaking their stable release. It sucks to see. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Arsinikk Posted April 23 (edited) Hell Revealations took around 8 months to complete. For the most part, many of the maps submitted for the WAD ended up being fairly similar to the maps in the final version... With the extra maps added to the extra Bonus WAD. However, there was one map in Hell Revealations that had significant changes made to it... Simply because it was too insanely difficult and punishing in it's original form... This was @Monsieur E and @tonytheparrot's map: "Ex Nihilo" (MAP28). Even in its current iteration in Hell Revealations, the map is considered to be one of, if not the hardest map of the set. And now the original un-nerfed crazy version of the map has now been released: You can just download the map and load it after Hell Revealations! Enjoy the extra 732 monsters and soul-crushing fights! Edited April 23 by Arsinikk 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lingyan203 Posted April 24 (edited) Here's my laythrough of Hell Revealations, enjoying the insane difficulty so far! However, some maps were just ridiculous haha I'll see how I feel about playing the un-nerfed version of Map28 Ex Nihilo, but it will depend really. If I do decide to try it, I will do it after all the other levels are completed, including the ones in the Bonus WAD. Here's the playthrough if anybody is interested! It's still currently WIP right now. I'm now on map29 and just beat map28. Update: Just finished the entire megawad plus the bonus levels and all of the levels are now uploaded as videos to my channel! Also includes the original uncut version of Map28: Ex Nihilo that is included as a bonus video! UV Max, continuous Edited April 27 by Lingyan203 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Async Unicorn Posted April 24 (edited) At first I was sceptical about this project and thought that it wouldn't fit my taste, but yesterday I decided to try it (because I was bored as hell) and, oh boy, I'm currently on MAP13 and if only you know how much I like all these maps and how brilliant you've captured the original HR look and feel! In some ways you even surpassed the original! Gorgeous work! (I am very attentive and found an easter egg on Mario on the 13th map! :D) Edited April 24 by Vanilla+Unicorn 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, it is really up to the doomwiki.org maintainers whether they consider the megawad notable enough. Usually the main criteria they follow is if a megawad wins a Cacoward. Since Hell Revealations wasn't mentioned anywhere in the 2023 Cacowards, and was released before the judging cutoff frame of November 2023, I highly doubt it's eligible anymore. Therefore I don't really have much hope for such a page. Perhaps there isn't much of demand for a Hell Revealed megawad in 2023, or the community felt that the megawad wasn't up to par with the other releases of last year. Either way, I had lots of fun with The SLOTTER Team developing this megawad, so I don't mind so much if HRs doesn't get recognition. I'd like to think we did our best in capturing the Hell Revealed spirit, and perhaps we'll take another stab at a sequel in the future. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think it deserved at least a brief mention as I missed it when I read the Cacowards. Well, it still a winner in my heart! Edited May 11 by Noiser 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Could possibly be featured in the 2024 Cacowards, who knows? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
