Randyghgu Posted October 6, 2023 Hello, I was wondering if there is any mods that can help GZdoom run better on lower end hardware, if there is, please let me know. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Boaby Kenobi Posted October 6, 2023 Listing your hardware specifications is always a good idea when asking these types of questions There are no mods as such but you can always tinker with your settings to find a configuration that works better for your system For older systems I recommend a source port like Chocolate or Crispy Doom. I use both those on an old laptop from like 12 years ago. It has a dual core CPU with only 64Mb of VRAM and both Chocolate and Crispy run nicely on it. DSDA also runs well, as does as PsyDoom, without the Vulkan render options of course 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
ETTiNGRiNDER Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) Do you need to run GZDoom mods specifically, or do you just need a ZDoomy port for an old computer? If the latter, personally I would just go with running ZDoom v2.8.1 (the last release of the non-G branch). That does lock you out of a lot of newer mods, but most of the base "convenience" features are there and you can run some (mostly older) Z-mods at least. (If you're trying to wring something out of a really low spec machine then you might even grab ZDoom LE 2.8.1f but this is a niche thing. I assume you're probably not going as far back as Windows 9x.) If the former, then the best advice I can give is to dig into the settings and start turning off any visual features you don't need and see what helps. BerserkerNoir Posted October 7, 2023 Only LZDOOM, newer versions of GZDOOM are prone to lag on older machines. Theres no way around that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
