What does AGM mean

I have scoured through old threads and reddit posts to find the meaning of the AGM, looking on what they did to the aliens (enemies) they could be called association of genetic machines I have heard long time ago

 

But experimenting with aliens is not the only thing they do, so what exactly are they, space empire ? Or a association of scientists ?, A private army ? Or all 3 of them

For me, AGM means the same as UAC in Doom: nothing I need to keep in mind even after reading about it. I assume, the authors just needed to come up with a similar abbreviation of 3 letters without any backstory of how exactly they were involved into bringing these creatures to Earth, or created them, or whatever reason why we come across this name throughout our walkthrough.
