taufan99 Posted October 8, 2023 (edited) A developer under the moniker of Wicked Figs decided to make a spiritual successor of Bad Toys 3D, a Czech Wolfenstein 3D clone for Windows 3.1. Aside from everything else from the original game, it also has a slew of new features, including but not limited to the ability to read optional backstory from computers scattered around levels, new enemies, and even an automap system. Originally it was conceived as a mere fan-made sequel, but has since grown into its own thing, while still retaining the original game's feel. Currently only 7 levels are available to play, but hopefully the number grows as the developer goes on. Spoiler Download link Edited March 3 by taufan99 11 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted October 8, 2023 Interesting! I am not familiar with Bad Toys 3D. I trust that this sequel is superior in every way? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SealSpace Posted October 8, 2023 A fan sequel to forgotten low-tier Wolf3d clone? Nice to see how much work and effort can be put into this game with surprisingly amazing results. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Daytime Waitress Posted October 8, 2023 Digging how the textures appear to be scanned from drawings someone did with a half-used marker - everything's ever-so-slightly faded; quite endearing. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted October 9, 2023 The OG Bad Toys 3D was one of the few Wolf-3D clones that fascinated me. So this also interests me :) 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kyka Posted October 9, 2023 It seems to me that the damage is much less random than Wolfenstein. Great work. Really interesting. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
taufan99 Posted October 10, 2023 (edited) Now just let me share my own opinion(s) on this; It's a great fan tribute. I don't usually put custom fan content of obscure games at high pedestal, but this is just truly exceptional. Being miles better while staying true to the original formula clearly pays off for The Other Mission. I love how it still keeps the action pace intact with some more emphasis on horror, all the while still balanced between both (though some may argue the former is still the main focus). The computer terminal system for saving is nothing short of interestingly challenging, and the lore behind the mails is surprisingly rather vast, considering the game's overall presentation. The DMS system also hits the sweet spot for 100% hunters like me and fans of playing games at the hardest skill to complete it entirely. The fact that the hardest skill has what others don't (including but not limited to an alternative ending if you 100% all the levels) should be more than enough to encourage replaying. Only things I don't like are the mouse turning and the automap. The former one is rather slow to my liking, and while I'm aware of the latter one still being rudimentary, it's hard to tell where you are exactly, making exploration even more confusing to an extent. Spoiler Oh wait, there's also another one; some of the horror elements. Like, was that one jumpscarey part with the black shade ghost (01:29:29 at the video on the OP) even necessary? I'm just glad it didn't screw up with your health at least. But yeah, screw that one really. Otherwise, everything else is just good as it is here. My verdict is, this is already a promising fan tribute. I'm looking forward to the full final version. Edited October 10, 2023 by taufan99 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted October 10, 2023 Very neat. I always liked Bad Toys 3D. It has an odd and cute charm to it. How many levels is the final version supposed to have? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Not revealed so far but it's planned out to be eventually different from the current Bad Toys 3D incarnation due to copyrights concern (the author seems unsure whether Tibo Software is still around for them to reliably contact with), while still containing lots of influence from it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
taufan99 Posted March 3 (edited) It's been a while, but the game has since been rebranded as Toyful Wonderland, which more or less still feels the same. Some of the maps from the original fan-made sequel are reused for this. Also...
