CravenCoyote Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) I wasn't sure where to post this so please move this if needed. I have a wad cd from 1995. Included was a file called MANSION.ZIP so I took a look into it. Seems to be a wad titled "Von Helsings Mansion". I looked through the idgames archive and all I could find was this. It seems to be a version that someone modified and uploaded due to some legality issues. They've also merged the wads together and it has an upload date of 25/11/2000. The readme files are different, as well. The version I have here is dated 31/01/1995. This is the date of ALL the files on the CD so the wad must have been made before that. The readme file does not include a date, unfortunately, but the contents are included in this post. Interestingly, the Filename(s) in the readme are KR-1.wad, KR-2.wad and KR-3.wad. The zip file itself, however, contains mansion1.wad and mansion2.wad. My guess is, this was a revised version by the author and they didn't update the readme. I guess an 'official' version of the one on the idgames archive? I thought it was a neat little find, and I'm looking forward to digging through the rest of this CD to see what's included. Guessing it might be best to perhaps upload the entire contents for preservation as well as playing mods that may have been lost elsewhere? The CD itself I can't seem to find any record of online. I picked it up on eBay a few weeks back but am in the process of moving house right now and today was the first chance I had to take a look at the contents of the CD itself. It has files for Doom, Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen and also includes some utilities which I guess probably wont run with today's operating systems without a virtual machine. The police officals looked over both you and your mothers records, very cautiously... then they found dramatic proof they you were indeed Alfred Von Helsings Great Grandson! ...what proof did the police find? They found Alfred Von Helsings will... It was discovered while searching the dungeon...it was brown, book like... and had a peace symbol on it...so you and your mother were granted possession of the VON HELSING MANSION. Unfortunately, your mother became ill, and perished in her sleep... Now you live in the Von Helsing Mansion all by yourself... Everyone in town heard of this tragic tale, and knowing you are the soul heir to the Von Helsing Mansion, many people are trying to take your life, and the women are trying to marry into the Von Helsing riches! You have to stop them! Yes you... Already some grotesque people have invaded the Mansion, while you were away. Now you must use your knowledge of the Mansion to defeat the evil that lurks within. Well, because Alfred Von Helsing purchased King Henry the II's castle, after the King had had passed away... not wanting a Castle, but liking the outside, he decided to keep the outside they way it was, while completely reconstructing the inside. He created his dream Mansion with many secret doors and hallways... 2. Why is the bridge across the moat broken? Well you may think that was a dastardly move on my part... but in all reality, the bridge was in great condition until the invasion of the Mansion. Suggestion: Why don’t you copy all the files from the cd to your hard drive, ZIP it and upload it to Archive.org ? Yes kr-1, Kr-2 & Kr-3 are the original files from December 1994. Kr-2 has the graphics for the wad. Unfortunately this is illegal. Kr-3 is the level and kr-1 contains ???? I'm hoping to do that upload, just need to find a bit of time to do so. Probably after I've finished moving. There are two versions of MANSION on this disc. There's the legal version from the author himself [1995] (not the Sparky version from 2000), and there's the original illegal version [1994].
