Demons are inherently evil beings, who solely exist to do evil of all kind. That's why they're demons. If demons had the capacity to do good things, they would be humams instead of demons. The opposite of demons are angels. Aliens are the big unknown entity. They could be evil, they could be good. They could be disgusting ( like in the Alien movie) or they could be gorgeous looking. Highly intelligent sentient beings or just an extraterrestrial celluloid organism. Yes, demons start as possessed zombies (former humans) and become demons, theoretically of course, nobody really knows for sure. Aliens are defined as anything not from our world, which can be extraterrestrial or extradimensional. Demons are extradimensional aliens. I know, I know, I'm splitting hairs here, but it's an interesting point to make. Personally I think zombies would be the easiest to survive, not long term, but short term. Zombies are like a plague or a curse, they torture the living indirectly, through things like societal destabilization and famine. In some cases zombies are a lot more deadly than other cases, too. But if we're talking like stereotypical vanilla shambling zombies that don't mutate or evolve, yes, it's a long term torture. Especially if anybody who dies period becomes a zombie, infected or not. But at least in that case you wouldn't really have to form a community, militia or army, you could be a loner and survive almost better than the groups- and I'm a loner. As for demons and aliens, you've got problems like military strength and needing heavy weapons, stuff like weapon technology, as opposed to just hitting them in the head with a blunt object. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Adding to your list mainly because over-hating of zombie fiction is getting tiring: -Project Zomboid -They are Billions -The Last of Us -Zombi-U -Days Gone (It's super underrated) -Dead Space (I think it kinda counts) -Siren -Nightmare of Decay -Night at the Gates of Hell -Telltale's The Walking Dead I haven’t played Resident Evil 😭 Edited February 5, 2024 by Ralseiwithagun 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

TwinBeast Posted February 5, 2024 I like all of them. I also like the evil robot scenario, the one where humans make robots that later decide humans are a problem that needs to be removed. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Captain red pants Posted February 6, 2024 Interesting thing about these settings is that all three had their own hit video game franchises in the 90's (Doom, Resident Evil and X Com) followed by a period of arguably mid releases in the late 90's/00's when their respective devs didn't really know what to do with them (Doom 3, Resident Evil 5/6, almost every post X Com game) then they all got highly successful reboots in the 2010's that have become classics in their own right (Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, Resident Evil 7 along with the remake of Resident Evil 2, and X-Com 1 and 2) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DiceByte Posted February 22, 2024 In fiction, demons are the coolest to fight against, as shown in the Doom games. Real life demons wouldn’t be that cool, though, because then we’re most likely going to immediately die. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
