Later - Joel was a part of a charity stream that also featured Hot Dad as a guest, and after both the charity stream and the release of Joels "Skeleton Metal X" album (which featured Hot Dad as a guest vocalist) - I checked out some of Hot Dads stuff. I think they did "sex in minecraft" together too? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ar_e_en Posted November 14, 2023 While I have heard the Royalty Free song "Believer" by "Silent Partner" before this video by Youtuber Druaga1 - the way that he used that song in this video made me actually appreciate the song a lot more. It made me appreciate enough to actually hunt down this song and download it! And now - I will always associate this song with the phrase: "But what if the power button cap was not kill?" There are actually some other Royalty Free music pieces that I ended up liking as actual songs, and most of them I found through other people. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
MemeMind Posted November 14, 2023 Quake and Doom has single handily built my taste in music. Quake got me into NIN, and Doom introduced me to metal in general. Cyberpunk 2077's "Ritual" station has also not improved that. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
elborbahquarama Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) it must have happened hundreds of times because this sort of things just seems like a natural part of life (i mean, outside of your own research and discovering more music through other similar music, you're always going to be introduced to music by other things or by people who talked or wrote about it, see what i mean? anyway) it would take me weeks to pinpoint every example, i could try to look at the list of every film i've watched and start there but i don't feel like it some examples that i really like are uncle boonmee that introduced me to acrophobia by penguin villa or syndromes and a century that introduced me to fez by neil & iraiza, on the other hand there is a movie i don't like at all called dolls that introduced me to kimi no hitomi ni koishiteru by kyoko fukada which i like a lot i also just remembered that gummo introduced me to dragonaut by sleep edit : and i was introduced to PSY・S, one of my favorite bands, after getting curious about masaya matsuura because of his work on the soundtrack of um jammer lammy!! MrFroz Posted November 15, 2023 I used to be pretty keen on Oasis, and hearing Noel Gallagher talk so much about this "Stone Roses" band in interviews, made me curious about checking them out: Ended up listening to pretty much their whole musical output. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Aaron Blain Posted November 15, 2023 My biggest takeaway from Tarantino is Bobby Womack and The Delfonics, from Jackie Brown. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted November 15, 2023 Even though I do not particularly like Mick Gordon's Doom soundtracks (minus a few exceptions, like the more ambient tracks), his rise to fame made me aware of his work on the Killer Instinct reboot. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Didn't he also work on a bunch of licensed games during the 2000's and early 2010's? I think he also worked on some sort of Spongebob game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

He worked on a Nicktoons crossover game in 2007, I think that's what they were referring to. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted November 15, 2023 Oh, right. I keep forgetting that Spongebob is Nickelodeon's. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ChaseC7527 Posted November 26, 2023 Heard of SlipKnot, never got into them until I saw a Whang! video about their Purity Knight case and went to listen to their self-titled, heard Wait and Bleed and have been a proud head-banger ever since. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Whang introduced me to the "Most Mysterious Song On The Internet", however - there is another mysterious internet song known as "La Canción de Alicia". I found the other song through the Youtuber Goose Boose: Here is a remake of the song in question: Spoiler 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

THEBaratusII Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) All That Remains would kickstart my interest in metal during my teenage years and that's since expanded to other bands since then. I recall finding them from a radio station playing the radio edit of "Hold On" from the album, For We Are Many. Another band I like a lot would be Mechina, however I only discovered them through the song, "Claw at the Dirt" from the Siege album, prior to finding out penguinz0 had a video featuring the song "Interregnum" from the album "Empyrean". While I found out about Mechina through "Claw at the Dirt" my favorite song would be "Vanquisher" from Acheron and "Anagenesis" from Progenitor Edited November 29, 2023 by THEBaratusII 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
aloysiusfreeman Posted November 29, 2023 My uncle likely set me up on my path of enjoying shit at a much younger age then the rest of people my age. For video games I remember learning about Doom from him. Also THPS was a big formative piece too. For music I got into nu-metal way before anyone else my age, and once they all got into nu-metal I progressed to better music. For TV I remember learning about Tom Green from him and that progressed to other MTV related shit. Strangely enough, I don't really connect to him all that much anymore. No beef or anything, just distance. I'm sure if I brought up to him how formative he was to me he'd just shrug. Hmm. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
