ARLINGTON - (Single Map for Doom II / GZDoom)

Having played this prior to release, I can heartily recommend it, a surreal experience featuring the best carpets ever designed in Doom!

this is by far the single best wad about cleaning litter boxes i've played in my entire life, and i gotta say, that's an achievement for such an oversaturated genre.

 

 

 

 

 

jokes aside, this is genuinely a really creative map that harkens back to the point-and-click adventure games of the 90s in the best possible way. it really shows how many avenues the doom modding community has yet to explore :)

It's out! YES!!! Congrats! Watching you work on this was an inspiration and coming up with solutions for things together thought me a lot about mapping.

 

Just so you know folks, this thing was created before My house.wad was published. I can vouch for that, just saying ;).

I played this for a bit and it's definitely really, really cool! That said, I'm kinda stumped how to progress past the first "scene" I guess. Spoilers below, not sure if anything critical is present so tread on the side of caution if you wanna experience the WAD for yourself.

So, basically I got the lighter in Maja's room and talked to Walker. At this point the archvile cutscene begins and I die, then get sent to Underhalls...except it's called the Body, it's in first person and I can't attack any of the monsters until a shotgunner dies and I get his shotgun. Given I IDDQD'd just to see if anything else was different, I also just finished map 02 like it was the stock map. Not sure if I ran into a bug or not, but I used the latest GZDoom as well as 4.10 just to be sure and still ran into the same issue.

 

Also, getting the cats to be in the protag's room seems to force the perspective back into first person too. I'm really not sure if it's a bug or not, so I'm just spoilering it all to be sure.

 

I am having a fun time poking around the house, though! I quite like the little things, decor and other little props and will definitely keep wandering around in it!

The 3rd person view made me feel like a toddler running around the house unattended.

Oooh, Resident Evil: Doom Edition. Good on you for deciding to release it, Bank. The level of detail with your Doomcute is really impressive from those screenshots alone.

All hail the new god-king of doomcute. The level of detail done here with just stock textures is absolutely absurd in the best way.

Haha, this is great. Really impressive but also funny at the same time.

I smoked up with the revenant and caco roomies and got blazed all the way into the Underhalls. Remember kids, winners don't do drugs!

 

Looking at the screenshots I'd say there's a fair bit of content I didn't see, so I'll dive back into this at some point.

Yeah, i can totally agree with you, the doomcute deco are to a completely new level.

 

I found myself locked in the same spot @Matt Eldrydge found without understanding properly what happened.

One of the coolest things I've ever experienced in a Doom source port, will be eagerly awaiting any future additons. I want that carpet.

That was really interesting. It's a bit tricky to navigate with the fixed camera angles and it was actually kind of hard to find the lighter but I eventually found it. Lots of really nice looking Doomcute though. I seemed to have found a weird bug. Right after I sat down with the Revenant and Cacodemon, an Archvile started burning me alive, but then the Revenant decided to punch me and I died instantly. I was transported to MAP02 when I respawned. Was that supposed to happen?
