Looking to recruit mappers to our team.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since AuroraFox has shut down our previous team recruitment thread, I'd figure I'd make an new one to invite new people to our mapping group: "Team Afterlife", which has a focus on vanilla mapping.

At the moment, we are working on a megawad called: "Torment Of Screams", which is set for release by the end of the year. You can find an working beta version of it below.

We are currently looking for level designers of any skill, but we definitely don't mind, if a texture artist, playtester or even an musician is willing to join. Bearing that in mind, please note, that Torment Of Screams has most of E1 and E2 finished by @Knor964, and since he has been absent as of late, we are looking for people in hopes, that someone helps to finish them.

Also, don't worry about being a novice when it comes to anything listed above, we are always willing to help out those in need!

If you wish to see, what we're currently working on, see this thread.

Ah, I didn't add it in for some reason, but this isn't a community project or anything, if you thought of that, more of a way to recruit new mappers to our team.

Hi, what you and your team (that i suppose already exist) have made so far? I am talking about modding for the ID Tech 1 games or some other engines, anything you guys made really.

What is the mission of your team? A place to chill out and help each other in mapping, doing a mapset or megawad, something completely different?

Anyway, looks like a interesting thing, more informations are welcome but if you want a vanilla mapper...

I'm more confident with classic Doom franchise games and Heretic, i can't map for vanilla Hexen due to scripting involved and just testing things for Strife. I made 2 small speedmaps for HACX and nothing for vanilla Chex Quest.

If you're recruiting people, you need give some information about why they're going there, what they're even going to do and what they're going to be working on. A "Black Box" is not very attractive in this respect. Try to present your project in some minimal way, so that it is clear what it is and why. Even if it's not a public community project. Since you are openly recruiting people, it makes no sense to withhold information completely. It is worth highlighting the "minimum" that can give some insight into your work.

Hi! As of now, we haven't released anything thus far however, we are planning to change that by the end of the year. Yeah, I guess that I didn't put enough information up here, so I try and add some more.

Noted, I'll try to add more information to this post. Thanks!

Hi there @volleyvalley. How many mappers are in your team so far? You mentioned you're making a new thread for your project today. Can you also add the authors nicknames to each of the completed map slots?

I'm interested in joining a mapping team, as sharing the experience and learning from others is something i want to do. However, some standards need to be set in place. If you can share a more extensive list of guidelines for the project, other than it's a vanilla one, that will be much appreciated. Basically, what you expect from the mappers, that's what i'm interested to know.

Another thing i'm curious about, is the structure of the team. Are you the only leader? If yes, what is your mapping experience? Share your solo works, please.

There aren't many people in my team, it's seven people, me included. I was planning to make a new thread tomorrow, to perhaps plan it out a little better and add more information, than the outdated .WAD development thread. About this thread however, I'll try to add more information the best as I can.

I am not the leader of the team, @Knor964 is. About the solo projects, they are listed in my profile, but I feel mixed about adding them here, since they are very amateur levels, and don't represent my current mapping ability.

Hi @volleyvalley! You mentioned you don't mind if a musician were to join. I don't map, but I have been making MIDIs for a little while and have been looking for more projects to compose for. Would you guys be okay with having a music-only team member on board?

Yeah, absolutely fine!

I enjoy mapping a lot and it's like all I do these days.  So having like minded ppl to talk to on the regular sounds great, but at the same time I don't enjoy mapping in vanilla as much.  I need boom or mbf21 to make things I want lol.

I wish you luck in recruitment to finish your project
