How do make the map appear while you play

Recommended Posts

If you mean to display a transparent map which doesn't block your view, that's likely from a mod. I have no idea what one, though.

This is also a feature in DSDA-Doom (inherited from PrBoom+). You can bind a key (default O) and press it when the automap is open to turn the background transparent.

Yeah it is kind of over lay that over clear like as you play. I seen videos but it is not a feature on zoom or gz or one of the other versions?

it should be in both zdoom and gzdoom iirc when you go to automap options and set "automap overlay" to yes

In DSDA you can simply press 'O' to activate overlay while on the automap and 'R' to rotate it along with the player perspective. In GZDoom you have to activate both features in the options under "Automap Option", inside the 'Full option menu', the first and third option - 'Rotate automap' and 'Overlay automap'.

Thank you guys so much for the help. On the overlay when playing are you able zoom in and out or mark places on the Map and have it tell you how to get there

I don't use that port, but zooming in and out and marks should be possible.

Lead-you-by-the-nose navigation, though, no. That would need to be some kind of mod, and for all I know that might be impossible. You'd have to have some sort of way of constructing what the level space is, take heights into account, and so on to even begin to have a navigation system like that.
