Scottier681 Posted November 10, 2023 I know this site is mainly for doom subjects but I'm having difficulty finding info. I have the GoG and steam versions of Wolfenstein 3D but having a difficult time getting them to run well and also controller issues. Are there alternative ways to play this on PC instead of using steam and GoG? Any help would be appreciated. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
fabian Posted November 10, 2023 I have a fork of Wolf4SDL ported over to SDL2 here, if you're keen of compiling from sources yourself: https://github.com/fabiangreffrath/wolf4sdl 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scottier681 Posted November 10, 2023 I have no experience with those things. Just want a more effective way to play it without steam or gog 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
liPillON Posted November 10, 2023 (edited) https://maniacsvault.net/ecwolf/ I would have suggested LZWolf (which is required by the Cosmetic Upgrade mod) but its development has been discontinued Maybe @Blzut3 can help identify what LZWolf-exclusive features the mod uses, and what workaround are needed to run it using ECwolf Edited November 10, 2023 by liPillON 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
No-Man Baugh Posted November 10, 2023 Related to this: is there a way to load Wolf 3D maps into ECWolf? all the map packs I can find, like Oldfartenstein come with a modified SDL2 version of Wolf3D that's capped at 400p and I don't know how to just play them in ECWolf 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CacoKnight Posted November 11, 2023 (edited) Check out this one too Wolfenstein 3D Total Conversion (you will need GZDoom 4.10x for this one to load all the maps because of a new feature or wait for the 3.1 version) Also, I usually don't like these "brutal" mods but this one if damn great: Brutal Wolfenstein 3D Edited November 11, 2023 by CacoKnight 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Most mods that come with their own source port have completely arbitrary changes so ECWolf can't support them automatically. 9 hours ago, liPillON said: Maybe @Blzut3 can help identify what LZWolf-exclusive features the mod uses, and what workaround are needed to run it using ECwolf More than would be reasonable to just disable. Eventually (most of) those features will be ported back to ECWolf. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scottier681 Posted November 11, 2023 Thanks, (individualised), I got ecwolf working perfectly, and I have used GZDoom to play the wolfendoom TC. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
