this is a very good thread and i love you all but i clicked it and saw @TheMagicMushroomMan's post above at the top of the page and assumed it was the OP and thought that this was just an incomprehensible shitpost

Oh, don't be mean. Cats was an amazingly horrifying movie that never needed to be made, and I think it fits in perfectly with the topic of the thread. I think it was a great shitpost.

It reminds me of T.S. Eliot though, and the jellicle cats and pollicle dogs, and how great a poem "The Hollow Men" was, and Joseph Conrad's "The Heart of Darkness", and the line "A penny for the old guy" as a reference to Guy Fawkes, and despite the fact that I'm not British, my Father's birthday is on November 5th. So when I call him on his birthday, I always open with "Happy Guy Fawkes Day!". And he laughs. Year after year, it's been two decades now that I've done it, it's great to hear him say "Hey!" when he picks up the phone, followed by me saying "Hey! Happy Guy Fawkes Day!" and listening to him laugh his ass off.

Anyway, since this thread is about cats, here's a picture of Lilly taking a nap under a blanket:

I thought this was a painting of a mountain under a gorgeously surreal sky. Then I noticed the face and was like "why did they fade their cats face into the mountain?" And then the entire picture became clear to me all at once. I feel like I just went into a journey of the soul

I never thought about it as being a painting or a mountain under a sky, but now I always will. I've seen sunsets that look almost the same, and her little ears create the perfect peak. It does remind me of looking at Crow's Peak or Bear Butte in the middle of winter.

I also thought it was a picture of a mountain. Looking at the picture on my phone from a distance, it's actually almost impossible to see anything else.

Yeah I see it now. She's a very majestic kitty, but all I saw before taking the picture was a little lump moving around under a blanket.

Maybe I should make it into a T-shirt. Catamount.

lol, bare butt lol

Yeah, Bear Butte is a sacred mountain to the Lakota people. And I made the same joke before I knew that, but they get very pissed off if you make jokes about it. It's a state park, and it's beautiful hill that was created due to volcanic activity in Yellowstone, and that's why it's revered. The soil around it is rich in minerals so people had been farming the land around it for a few thousand years, and the legend is that a giant bear used to roam the area around the Black Hills of South Dakota, and it carved out the Black Hills and the Bad Lands before it decided to lay down and take a nap, and it's still sleeping.

Oh I would never have known :o

It is a really beautiful mountain. It oddly does have a similar shape to that photo of your cat, but it's actually very agreeably rounded at the top, not as angular at all. Other angles of it look sharper but definitely bear less of a resemblance:
