Cacodemon187 Posted November 10, 2023 (edited) Hello everybody! Just like I did for my scoliosis surgery, I'm making a commemorative map for my highschool graduation. Today, November 10th, was my last day of school, ending a very important process of my life and one I hold very close to my heart. __________________________________________________CHICOCOS S.A.__________________________________________________ Screenshots: Spoiler Chicocos S.A. is a limit-removing map (complevel 2) set in a shipping/receiving office, featuring a non-linear layout with multiple paths to get to your goal. Clear out all the buildings and pick up all 3 keys to get into the boss arena: the theater hall...!! (which, fun fact, is a recreation of the actual theater hall where the graduation ceremony will take place!). It's not that simple of course. On your way you'll be put against a few new demons: NEW ENEMIES: Class II Imp: A fast Imp that continuously shoots projectiles until you're out of its line of sight. Class II Baron: A regular Baron of Hell that shoots a string of 5 projectiles instead of just 1. As a trade-off, it has the health of an Archvile (700 HP) compared to its original 1000 HP. Cyberdemon Jr.: A baby Cyberdemon with the health of a Hell Knight (500 HP). NOT immune to splash damage, meaning you can trick them into blowing themselves up, or infighting with other baby cybies. Since this is a pretty non-linear map, and was made in such a short amount of time (like 7 hours in total, counting playtesting time), it's probably not as balanced as it could be. I added extra ammo and health wherever I thought the player could run out, but you still might run into some trouble in that regard. I also couldn't be bothered to do difficulty settings this time, so keep in mind that UV is pretty tough. My highschool years have been some of the best of my life so far, so I thought I'd embrace Doom mapping as an art form and create something to commemorate this part of my life, like you would with a painting or a song. Fun fact: The architectural design of the map was inspired by an actual grain shipping factory near my house (seen in the intermission picture). The design of the building always caught my attention whenever I was walking by, so I tried to do something similar and see what came out of it. Synami Posted November 10, 2023 Beaten in around 11 minutes, 100% kills and secrets. Your architectural chops are astounding for something made in 7 hours, and the combat doesn't disappoint either. Spoiler Ammo wasn't troublesome, and that final fight was fucking bonkers. Thought I'd have a little fun with it, making those Class II Imps spew a death ray to the mastermind. And the music was a bit mesmeric. Just like to say a final goodbye to this kind of place... and sign the beginning of the "true life". Maribo Posted November 16, 2023 This map is so precious... the silly barrel shenanigans, the baby cybers, the way over the top 5-projectile barons, and that outrageous center stage climax... I love it so much. 7 hours (including playtesting!!) for this is seriously impressive.
