Did you kill him or not? (Spoilers for Doom Eternal)

So you know how you got the super shotgun, right? You controlled a revenant! Now, when you got that overpowered baby (the super shotgun), what did you do to that revenant full of fear? Did you kill it? Did you spare it? What did you do? Give me your answer. And if you want, you can explain why you chose to do what you did, and think whether or not you still think what you did at the time was right?

I save my tokens until I get the SSG and give that Revenant the honour of beeing the first kill towards Meathook mastery.

I shot that Revvie and never gave a second thought about it... In fact I always thought the player was *supposed* to kill it in order to advance the mission.

EDIT: in a way, I felt almost godlike while flying that Revenant, both in the Easy and in the Medium (HMP) skills (never tried in the UV and harder skills). It was the only moment I experienced that sensation of power fantasy, as the rest of the game seemed to me very punishing, even in the Easy level!

I let him live. IMHO, A demon that is not a threat should not be shot. (Of course, I shouldn't be a backseat Slayer.)

I killed it.

It's a demon in a Doom game and Revenants are supposedly in constant pain and agony according to the 2016 Codex anyways.

I killed it. I hesitated to do so, but logically all factors were in favour in doing so.

The questionable reasons to spare the the revenant are:

  1. It wasn't a threat - at that time
  2. We appreciated its service (unwilling service, mind)

And here the reasons for killing it:

  1. It is a demon that wants the Slayer and any other human dead, regardless of it being forced to help you
  2. If it is left alive, who is to say it isn't unleashed back to earth to kill more innocence or even attack the Slayer?
  3. If there is any humanity left in it, it would be in agony and killing it would be a mercy

Less “spared him”, more “paid him no mind”; a demon that can’t or doesn’t fight back is beneath my idea of the Slayer, and there ain’t no fun in shooting that either.

(I was also was very ammo conscious on my initial playthroughs.)

Now knowing he was in extreme pain, I feel bad for letting him live. But then again, he was also in fear of me. Maybe next time I will kill him, but just for him, I’ll make it quick. He doesn’t need to suffer that much. He did do me a favour after all.

revenant

I always felt bad not to put him out of his misery, I mean he's clearly suffering.

A revenant is literally undead, so killing it would be an act of mercy.

If it was a living creature, like an imp or Baron, hehe, I would let it live

I blew it away on my first playthrough (I assumed you had to). Subsequent plays, even knowing I had the option not to, I still generally do. It seems the obvious thing to do and is too tempting to resist. It's still a demon.

Yea I think I let him be the first few runs, I appreciated his service.

But while it's been like a year since I've done the content, I feel like on newer playthroughs, which would have been the half a dozen hardcore mode attempts, I used him for a kill towards meathook upgrades or whatever the thing you're farming at the time is
