Ryko Posted December 4, 2023 I have a small YouTube channel and am wondering If I would get copyrighted if I use doom music for a fight animation. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SupremeBioVizier Posted December 4, 2023 You would only get a warning if the user does not permit the music being used on yt...if they DO permit it, which is usually the case...a copyright will show up on your dashboard but a strike will not be applied. If by chance that one song isn't allowed to be used you can choose to mute it or remove the video, if you keep putting music that isn't allowed you get three strikes...but wait! Now they have a better deal, you get to take a test for thirty minutes and have all warnings removed lol...if you post nudity or something they just age restrict it, if there is real blood and guts they strike you on which you can appeal and take the the yt training course to remove said strike.... it's usually not a death sentence for your channel either way. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Matt Eldrydge Posted December 4, 2023 I've been on YT for a while myself and occasionally get content IDs since the robots got good enough to recognize melodies in MIDI covers of copyrighted songs, and also the music from some games (Duke Nukem 3D is the only one I know of so far) has been copyright for some reason. You can think of those as just slaps on the wrist, they might throttle your views but that's about it. You won't get a strike for it. If you mean music made by people in the community, however, I'm pretty sure most of the ones still active will gladly let you use their work if you credit them - that's if they don't already say it's cool to use their stuff for whatever. Original compositions are pretty common and I don't think I've ever seen anyone put them on Spotify or Youtube music. Either way, when in doubt, credit the appropriate people and you should be fine. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
