GermanPeter Posted December 6, 2023 This is part 2 to a video I've made the other day about sprites, textures and sounds from Wolfenstein 3D that made their way into Doom, and vice-versa! Would really love to hear what you guys think! Please also let me know if I missed anything, I really hope not :D 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
Amaruψ Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) I've always had quite the suspicious hunch about B.J's face on the Super Nintendo version of Wolfenstein 3D's splash screen. It looked remarkably similar to Doomguy's side glancing sprites. Now I'm not sure if the face was also used as a basis for that particular splash screen, but after watching your video I'm quite positive that it couldn't be just a coincidence. Great video as always, by the way! Edited December 6, 2023 by Amaruψ 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

Then again, so could Doomguy be. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Individualised Posted December 6, 2023 The Wolf 3D SNES explosion graphics probably came before the Doom imp fireball explosion graphics. Until very late in development the imp projectiles looked completely different. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's as if they only had the last two frames, thought "Hm, this looks a bit weird" and added the SNES one to the start. OR they began with the SNES one and added the others afterwards. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Roebloz Posted December 6, 2023 Actually, the Imp fireball explosion you showed are from the Cacodemon's fireballs, not the Imp's. Great video otherwise. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
